The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. reaches out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism. The Associa-tion of Junior Leagues International, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving com-munities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Spring is my favorite time of year in the JLSB because it means the Junior League Market is close at hand! Really, what’s not to love?! There’s the Patron Party, Girls’ Night Out, Breakfast with the Bunnies, and one of my personal favorite pastimes, SHOPPING! With everything from clothing and jewelry to kitchen items and children’s clothing (not to mention delicious food), there’s truly something for ev-eryone. And best of all, the Market funds pro-grams that contribute to the betterment of the Shreveport-Bossier community, like Between the Lines, Artist for a Day at the Red River Revel, Super Safety Saturday at Sheriff ’s Safety Town, and Health Literacy Initiative. Encourage your friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors to join us March 13-15 at the Shreveport Convention Center and make the 13th year of Shopping for a Cause the best one yet!

from the PresidentLetter

Spring is in the air! This time of year, as the azaleas start to bloom and things appearing dead during win-ter emerge with new life, I am reminded of renewal. Thoughtful renewal of our commitments—to our fami-lies, our faith, our jobs, our friends, and our health—is necessary often. The spring season offers the perfect backdrop for renewal of our commitments. As the 2013-14 League year winds down, this is a great opportunity to review and renew your commitment to the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier. I encourage you to recommit yourself to the Junior League through the giving of your time, your talents, and your treasure. Our time and tal-ents are committed through our placements, as well as by our attendance at General and Provisional meetings and special events. In this article, I would like to focus on the commitment of our treasure. As members, we all support the Junior League financially through dues and Ways and Means obligations. But it is imperative that we support our fundraisers if we expect our community to support them. This spring, we have three wonderful opportuni-ties to support our organization with our treasure.

The first giving opportunity is our 13th Annual Junior League Market: Shopping for a Cause, our League’s biggest fundraiser and the primary contributor toward funding our projects and operations. We are back at the Shreveport Convention Center March 13-15, with extended shopping hours on Thursday and Friday! Attend Girls’ Night Out, become a Patron Sponsor, or a Corporate Sponsor. Bring your children or grandchil-dren to Breakfast with the Bunnies, and definitely come SHOP! The Market team has done an exceptional job planning this year’s event, so round up some friends, line up a sitter, and join us as we celebrate “lucky 13” at the Market. The second opportunity to support our fundrais-ing efforts (and to enjoy the healthy benefits of a little exercise) is our Running for a Cause Fun Run and 5K “Glow in the Dark” Run on Thursday, April 24 at 6

p.m. Lace up those running/walking shoes, don some glow “bling,” and head to Clyde Fant Parkway to enjoy some fresh evening air. This is a perfect opportunity to include your entire family in what is sure to be a fun-filled event with some great entertainment along the race route. Make plans to join us as we light up Clyde Fant and shine a light on our commitment to our community. The third opportunity will round out our League year and will be held on Tuesday, May 6. The Junior League is participating in Give for Good! Day. Give for Good! is a 24-hour online giving challenge that begins at 12 a.m. on May 6 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Hosted by the Community Foundation, Give for Good! Day seeks to build the next generation of philanthropists in the Shreveport-Bossier area. For 24 hours, local nonprofits, including the Junior League, will be able to receive on-line donations that will be increased by the Community Foundation’s Lagniappe Fund. There is no better time to donate financially to the League than this 24-hour period, as each dollar given will be magnified by the La-gniappe Fund. We are challenging all of our members to donate something, no matter how large or small the gift, during this event. There will be prizes awarded through-out the 24 hours, and we will publicize these “competi-tions” as Give for Good! Day approaches. As you can see, even though we have just a few months left in our League year, we still have many won-derful opportunities to give back to the organization that promotes voluntarism, develops the potential of women, and improves communities. Each of us has unique experi-ences within the Junior League and learns new skills that enable us to continue to improve our community long after our years of active membership have passed. These skills are priceless and are a trademark and legacy of Junior League involvement. Please join me in supporting the Junior League as we renew our commitment to give our time, our talents, and our treasure. With sincere thanks,

Melanie Peacock, President

Meetingwith a

As most Junior League members know, each meeting that we have is a “Meeting with a Mis-sion.” We ask our members to bring different items each month to support various organiza-tions in our community. Each donation made by a JLSB member brings the sponsors closer to reaching their goals of helping and supporting those in need. While the donations vary from month to month, the theme of our work does not: Our missions are making a difference in the lives of others!

September: Operation Blessing We donated two large drums of canned protein items to a food bank staffed by the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Posse and Auxiliary Volunteers, and they distributed our collections to elderly and needy residents in our area.

October: Providence House and Purchased: Not for Sale Both groups serve populations of women who are affected by domestic violence. Collections included pillows, paper towels, toilet paper, and disinfectant for Providence House as well as costume jewelry, cos-

metics, and accessories for Purchased: Not for Sale.

November: Operation Santa Claus JL members supported the Shreveport Police Depart-ment, Shreveport Fire Department, and Bossier Sheriff’s Office and filled a delivery van full of quality toys to be distributed to needy children in our area.

December: The Jewell House The Jewell House is a home for six homeless teenage girls, and we donated hygiene items, paper towels, toilet paper, cosmetics, and lotions. The items were then wrapped and placed under a Christmas tree for the girls to open.

February: Camp I’m Still Me We collected all colors and patterns of duct tape and water-based acrylic paints for this camp for children ages 4-17 who have survived burn injuries. The camp is free for the children!

May: Willis-Knighton Pediatric Surgical UnitMembers will collect and donate toys, blankets for newborns, puzzles, and books for children who have recently undergone surgery.

If you could spend a day with three famous people, living or deceased, who would they be?: Laura Bush, Max Lucado, and Giada De Laurentiis What is something you hope every woman takes away from her time in the League?: Lifelong friendships, a desire for community service, and the confidence to succeed in any endeavors pursued. If you could give a piece of advice to this year’s Provisional Members, what would it be?: Your time as an Active will pass quickly. In your Provi-sional year, observe the various placements available, and then enthusiastically join in to those areas that interest you. But don’t hesitate to challenge yourselves by stepping outside of your comfort zone and doing something you haven’t experienced before. The in-frastructure of the League is such that you will receive training and support to help you succeed in ways you didn’t anticipate. What makes you LOL (Love Our League)?: The lifelong friendships made, without a doubt. The relationships with many of my closest friends and acquaintances began when we worked (and played) together on various projects, placements, and com-mittees in the League. We still work (and play much more!), have continued our church and civic in-volvement at a more moderate pace, have celebrated our children’s weddings, and are now blessed with grandchildren. And you can bet we all still feel chills remembering when the doors first burst open at Hirsch Coliseum for Bargain Haul, where “shopping for a cause” originated!! Truly, my membership in the JLSB was life-changing!

Spouse: Jim

Children/grandchildren: Son Corbin and his wife Camila, and two grandchil-dren, Mia (3) and Sebastian (2)

Education/career/occupation: Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Arkansas; elementary school teacher and small busi-ness owner, now retired What made you want to join the Junior League?: It was something I always hoped to do, as I’d seen my mother enjoy her involvement in the League. I looked forward to the camaraderie with other young women and being involved in worthwhile activities that make a difference in our community. What is one of your favorite memories of your time as an Active Member?: The Follies!! Doing the Cha Cha, Jitterbug, and Minuet Waltz with my husband, Jim, and our cast, and watching the TV miniseries Rich Man, Poor Man during rehearsal breaks. What was your favorite placement?: Community Vice-President

What are some of your other hobbies and activities?: Attending Razorback games, Bible study, gardening, golf, needlework, walking, water sports, and yoga.

What is your favorite vacation spot?: Lake Ouachita in Hot Springs

occupation: Prosecutor—I am the Section Chief of the Drug Division in the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office.

What made you decide to join the Junior League?: I joined the League to provide community service and community outreach with women whom I had never met before. I knew the League was comprised of some pretty fabulous women, and I was missing out!

What has been your favorite aspect of League membership?: My favorite aspect of the League has been the op-portunity to get to know and work with members with various backgrounds and careers. The League facilitates merging all of our ideas and interests for our League goals.

What is your placement this year? What Do you most enjoy about it?: I am an Advisor and member of the Nominating Committee. What I have enjoyed most is having my opinion heard and valued.

What other placements have you had?: Revel Pepsi Weekend Chair, Super Safety Saturday Touch a Truck Coordinator, JL Market Merchant Assistant Chairman, and The Providence House Volunteer for the After School Program

What would you say to a friend if she asked you why she should join the Junior League?: I would tell her to join the League to bring a different perspective, a perspective that is positive and one that can help someone else. Be open-minded. Be a member whose actions stand out and don’t blend in.

Provisional

Update Wow! Time seems to be passing so quickly for the Provisional class. Over the course of this year, you have learned about different placement opportunities, the many councils and commit-tees on which you can serve, and submitted a preference for your placement next year. I hope our meetings have helped in making decisions on where you would like to serve as an Active mem-ber. We have one Provisional meeting to go, the March meeting at the Shreveport Convention Center. The meeting will focus on the Communi-ty Council, which is the heartbeat of the League’s existence in Shreveport-Bossier. Beyond place-ments and volunteer hours, this council is hard at work making sure the right people are in place to “make things happen.” League placements and projects take hours of planning and perfecting (which is easy to forget). We will also get a sneak peek of “Market Madness” and the execution of one of the JLSB’s most important fundraisers. I am so excited that many of you have fulfilled all of your requirements and will become Actives

next year. The Junior League offers such reward-ing opportunities in our community, and you will enjoy developing your true potential as a leader through your work with the League. Make memo-ries, have fun, and remember to give your best in all that you do. We would like your help recruiting potential Provisionals for the 2014-2015 class. If you have enjoyed your time and service this year, please help spread the word about the upcoming Provi-sional Informational meetings, which are listed below. If you know someone who has questions about joining the League, I would be happy to talk with them. My contact information is in the yearbook and Digital Cheetah. Thank you for your service in the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier this year!

Hometown: Wichita Falls, TX

What made you want to join the Junior League?: My mom is a sustaining member of the League in Wichita Falls, TX. I have always admired her involvement in the community through the League as well as the bonds and relationships she has built with her fellow League members through the years. When she and my dad moved to Wichita Falls, it was one of the best ways for her to get settled. The League gave her the opportunity to reach out into her new community and to meet new friends. I know the Shreveport-Bossier Junior League will allow me those same opportunities as I settle into Shreveport.

What is your current placement?: Done in a Day

What have you enjoyed most about being a Provisional member?: I have enjoyed getting to know some wonderful women through our Provisional activities, as well as getting to know more about our efforts toward serving the Shreveport-Bossier community.

What is your favorite book?: I loved the entire Hunger Games series!

What is your favorite quote?: “Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” – Confucius

If you could spend a day with three famous people, living or deceased, who would they be?: Audrey Hepburn, Walt Disney, and Lucille Ball

Fun With Financial Literacy – Lucien Rollins, Small Business Banking, Capital One Bank Attendees of the Financial Literacy workshop were able to learn pertinent information as it relates to all areas of finance. Led by Lucien Rollins, Assistant Vice President of Small Business Banking at Capital One, topics covered included mortgages and financing a home, planning for retirement, developing a savings plan, college tuition plans, and good credit card practices. “Planning for the future is one of the best ways individuals can achieve financial security,” noted Rollins. League mem-bers were able to ask questions about these topics and more. Special thanks to CoHab for providing their CookHouse space.

Street Smarts and Child Safety for Women Safety in public places, self defense, what to do in an emergency, and safety for children in car seats and at home were all topics for this education workshop. Centenary College Chief of Police Eddie Walker, Detective Heather Boucher, and Elaine Pahilan, Trauma Injury Prevention Coordina-tor, provided attendees with valuable information to keep themselves as well as their families safe. Participants got to engage in simulations designed to provide defense and protection. Members also learned rules, regulations, and recommendations as they pertain to child seat safety. “Being aware and vigilant are the first steps to protecting yourself and your family,” noted Chief Walker.

Miss Representation Screening Members of the League were given the special opportunity to screen the critically acclaimed docu-mentary Miss Representation at Robinson Film Center. Written by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Miss Representation explores the connections between mainstream media and the underrepresentation of women in America. The documentary featured iconic women in today’s society such as Condoleezza Rice and Nancy Pelosi. The documentary raised several points of discussion and consideration for all League members in attendance.

Women’s Health: An Ageless Issue Members of the League were afforded the opportunity to ask questions and receive useful informa-tion as it related to women’s health at the last education workshop of the year, “Women’s Health: An Ageless Issue,” held at the Zadeck Conference Center at LSU Health Shreveport. Drs. Amy Coulter, Mary Kim (a Junior League sustainer), and Tamara Richards each presented on issues such as vein health, reconstructive surgery, and important tests and lifestyle choices critical to maintain-ing good health. As Dr. Richards noted, “the key to successful living is living well and being aware of the changes in your body.”

EducationWorkshopsJanuary culminated in the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier’s Education

Month. Designed to offer members of the League opportunities to enhance their knowledge on a variety of topics, this year’s workshops proved

to be very informative and valuable to all who attended.

Give for Good! Day One day. One big difference. The Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier is pleased to an-nounce our participation in the Community Foundation’s Give for Good! Day on Tuesday, May 6. This 24-hour online giving challenge has been a huge success in other cities throughout the country, and we are excited to be a part of this unique event. Give for Good! is open to nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations in Caddo, Bossier, and DeSoto parishes. Its purpose is to build the next generation of philanthropists for the Shreveport-Bossier area. It will raise awareness of the many services nonprofits provide in our community and will hopefully inspire everyone to be a philan-thropist, whether they have the ability to give $5 or $5,000. It begins at 12 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6 and ends at 11:59 p.m. During those hours, all dollars raised through the Give for Good! website will be amplified through matching funds from a national pool and the local Lagniappe Fund. Therefore, for every dollar donated to the Junior League, the Community Foundation’s Lagniappe Fund will add to that dollar. The more donations received by the Junior League, the higher the per-centage we will receive from the Lagniappe Fund. Additionally, the Lagniappe Fund will also award prizes, a few of which are listed below:• Power Hour – random drawing each hour and

$1,000 added to gift• Night Owl Award – most unique (i.e., individu-

al) donations between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m.• Sunrise Award – most unique (i.e., individual)

donations between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m.• Lunch Break – most unique (i.e., individual)

donations between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.• Rush Hour – most unique (i.e., individual)

donations between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

• Most unique (i.e., individual) donors will receive $2,500

• Friends in Faraway Places – cash award for the donation from the farthest location

During the event, a streaming leaderboard will be available on the Give for Good! website. The Junior League will be notified immediately as donors give, and we will be able to thank our supporters immediately and watch our dollars increase. Encourage friends to take a look at our page on the Give for Good! website and consider making a donation to support our projects that so positively affect our community. This is also an excellent opportunity to acquire new Facebook fans and increase awareness about what the Junior League does in our community. Please make plans to be a part of this exciting event by making a donation to the Junior League on May 6 and encouraging others to do the same. We all want our community to be a better place, so please embrace this opportunity to “Look For-ward by Giving Back.”

84% of young donors want to give through a website (Chronicle of Philanthropy)47% of donors indicated that this was a “first time” donation to the agency to which they gave (Give Big Riverside)

93% of donors are likely to continue support (Omaha Gives)100% of nonprofits received a donation (Omaha Gives)

MEMBER CHALLENGE: Our goal is for 100 percent of our members to make a contribution on May 6. How wonderful would it be to meet that goal?! It would show that, as a League, we believe in what we do and are passionate about improving our community.

The Market Committee is excited to bring new features to Market this year! First, we have extended the general shopping hours. General shopping will now be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. Now you’ll have plenty of time to stop by after work and shop for a cause! We have also added an Artist Gallery and are accepting works of art from local artists to be purchased at Market. All the money raised from the art sales goes right back to the Junior League. General admission tickets are only $10 at the door! A new addition we’re extremely excited about is also a fun way to support our merchants AND win a great prize: Merchant Madness! (CAP)Grants The needs of our community have always been a priority to the Junior League of Shreve-port-Bossier. We not only answer those needs by funding our own community projects and providing volunteers, but also with Community Assistance Program (CAP) grants. These CAP grants enable the JLSB to extend its financial support even further in the community by provid-ing multiple smaller grants to a greater number of charitable causes in our local area. Our League has operated this program for many years. The purpose of the program is to pro-vide monetary grants for short-term critical needs of nonprofits in the Shreveport-Bossier area. The amount available each year is 20 percent of the change in net assets from the previous year based on annual review. The application process is very simple. All a local non-profit needs to do is submit an applica-tion that meets the funding criteria, along with all the supportive documents, to the League. The following is the funding criteria that the JLSB Strategic Planning Committee will consider in reviewing the application:1. The Agency’s proposed project supports the mis-

sion/focus of our League2. The Agency addresses critical human needs3. The Agency faces the possibility of a disruption of

a program or services4. The Agency has prospects for continued funding5. The Agency has an unforeseen need not covered

by its budget or present financial resources6. The Agency’s clients will be significantly impacted

by this grant7. There must be a volunteer component within the

Agency8. The project must benefit the community at large

rather than an individual The Committee will not fund current Junior

League projects, requests from individuals, fund-ing for religious or political activities, scholar-ships, fundraising donations, and research, among other things. Funds are also not awarded to any agency that has received a grant from the program in the past 36 months. All requests are approved by the Board of Directors. In the past nine years, the League has award-ed a total of $85,312.62 in CAP grants. The fol-lowing is a list of CAP grant recipients in the past three years: • Louisiana State Exhibit Museum• Catholic Charities – Gabriel’s Closet• Salvation Army• HUB Urban Ministries: Purchased – Not for Sale• Children’s Hospital at LSU Health Shreveport• Gift of Dance• Sci-Port Discovery Center• Grace Home• Oakwood Home for Women• The Sunshine Foundation, Inc. The League accepts applications at any time during the year and reviews them individually on their own merits in the order in which they are received. Organizations are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Grant awards typically begin in September, when the amount available for CAP grants during that particular year has been set. Applications will be awarded during the year until the funds available for that year are deplet-ed. Do you know of a non-profit that would be a great candidate for a CAP grant? The Commit-tee would love to consider the application. If you know of a particular agency in need of emergency funds, please direct the agency to our website, where they can download a copy of the applica-tion under the Scholarships and Grants tab.

“Transforming & Inspiring Voluntarism”: That is what each of you does through your volunteer efforts with the Junior League. Each of you chooses to volunteer on behalf of the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier in addition to already very busy lives filled with family, other volunteer commitments, and careers. Electing to give the extra time and energy you have to the JLSB and our community is most appreciated. Our community benefits and flourishes from your time and talents given to our organization in numer-ous ways every day. As a way to acknowledge your efforts, the JLSB would like to send a letter of recognition to your place of employment and/or your spouse to coincide with National Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 6–13. We will send

this letter directly to your supervisor, through your Human Resources office, or to your spouse at the address you provide. In addition, JLSB would also like to offer you the opportunity to receive a recommendation for your LinkedIn profile highlighting your volunteer service with the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier. A letter and/or LinkedIn recommendation will only be sent and/or posted if you request it. Please take advantage of this opportunity and allow the JLSB to share with your employer or family how much we appreciate the time and energy you devote to the JLSB. Log in to jlsb.org and sign up under Volunteer Appreciation in your reminders.

Bingo! By Leslie Crowell

“Put your marker on the free space,” is the first call of the game. Once a month, the Junior League of Shreve-port-Bossier spends a Thursday evening playing Bingo with the kids at University Health Hos-pital. This has been another great year with this placement. I have served on LSU Bingo for the past four years, and I have enjoyed watching this program grow. Initially, we had only a few children that would attend Bingo. Through the enthusiasm of the Child Life Specialist and the lovely Junior League ladies, the children now come excited and ready to win a prize. This year, the games have seen even larger at-tendance. With the closing of Sutton’s Children’s Hospital (where Bingo first began as a JLSB proj-ect), the number of children served at University Health has dramatically increased. But that just means more fun and prizes!

Before each game, League members invite all the children to play in the Child Life Playroom. For the children who can’t come to the playroom, the game is broadcast through a closed-circuit television system on the pediatric floor of the hospital, and they can call in when they win and sometimes with a joke. Two years ago we added a creative aspect to Bingo and started doing a seasonal craft when the games finished. The children love making some-thing to decorate their rooms and take home. The one-on-one interaction between League members and the children, along with the fun game, allow them to forget about being sick and in the hospital. Each child, whether they win or not, gets to choose a prize from the enormous prize bucket. Ultimately, however, each child wants to yell “BINGO!”

DomesticVIOLENCE

I am so pleased the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier is continuing its mission to help women and children in our community through its commit-ment to the Providence House domestic violence shelter. The shelter is truly an amazing facility, and our community is blessed to have such a dedicated group of professionals committed to making a positive impact on the grim statistics of domestic violence in the Shreveport-Bossier area. One in four women will experience domestic violence during her lifetime. Unfortunately, Louisiana continues to lead the nation in domestic-violence-re-lated homicides. A woman is most likely to be seriously injured or killed by her abuser when she attempts to leave. This is why the shelter is crucial. The shelter provides 45 days of room and board in a secure location for women and their children. In addition to shelter, the women are provided with counseling, legal assistance, and help planning their future lives apart from their abusers. In many instances, women and their chil-dren move into the main Providence House residential program to indepen-dence. We have had a wonderful year so far in Domestic Violence Education. We started off the year by receiving educa-tion and training from the Providence

House staff. We learned about the cycle of violence and the challenges of breaking that cycle. Our first project of the year was to assist Providence House with an outreach project at the Louisi-ana Boardwalk. We spoke with mem-bers of the community and distributed information about the services provided by Providence House. In October, we held an event for the children staying with their moth-ers at the shelter. We brought in all the necessary materials for the children to create Halloween trick-or-treat bags. The children were so creative, and they had a wonderful time. In December, we helped the children make Christmas or-naments for the two Christmas trees in the shelter. Several of the children had also been at our Halloween event, and they were so happy so see us again. The children touched all of us with the care they put into the creation of their orna-ments. The director of the shelter told us the children had fun every morning making sure that their ornaments were still in a prominent place on the tree. This is truly a special project, and as a volunteer, I receive so much more than I give in my time. The resilience of the women and children we have met during our time at the shelter is inspir-ing. We look forward to the remaining projects we have scheduled for this year.

DayDone in a

Done in a Day provides volunteer support for community projects that can be accomplished in a one-time evening or weekend effort. The DIAD placement consists of activities that support non-profit organizations whose missions are consistent with the JLSB’s mission and the current commu-nity programs focus area, Families at Risk. DIAD activities should leverage JLSB members in a vol-unteer capacity where they have direct contact with the organizations’ members and staff, clients, or direct beneficiaries of the organization’s goods and services. Examples of projects that the 2013-14 DIAD volunteers have been a part of include:• Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission: Feed the home-

less• Northwest Louisiana Food Bank: Pack food boxes

for those in need• Susan’s Closet: Support Susan G. Komen• Renesting Project: Provide furniture and household

goods to those transitioning from homelessness• Volunteers of America: Assist with Shop With a

Doc• Heart of Hope: Organize/design a house for young

pregnant girls First-time Done in a Day volunteer Ashley Shinpoch stated, “Done In A Day has been a great opportunity to explore the various vol-unteer and community service projects in the Shreveport-Bossier area. While I have lived in Bossier most of my life, being involved in the Junior League’s DIAD has opened my eyes to the many needs of our community, especially when it

comes to our area’s kids. Serving in the Shreve-port-Bossier Rescue Mission kitchen, Shop With a Doc, and the Northwest Louisiana Food Bank has not only been fun but also very fulfilling. By working with a variety of non-profit organizations that focus on women and children, I’ve had the opportunity to find volunteer opportunities that have become close to my heart and have really spoken to me.” Bridgett Bushnell has participated in Done in a Day in the past and said, “I enjoy DIAD because it is a hands-on placement. It also offers a variety of opportunities to make a differ-ence in our community.”
