Speaker sessions anchor the
conference, uniting the vast majority of
attendees in one space and providing
a common ground of ideas on which
everyone in the Better World community
can build. By bringing in leaders and
acolytes from their respective fields,
the conference aims to present a variety
of expert perspectives that spark
dialogue throughout the conference and
inspire action long after the conference
weekend comes to a close. After the
speaker sessions, the presenters will
be found interacting with attendees in
the lobby, which is always bustling with
ideas sparked by the previous session.

PANELS

Panels bring together experts and
professionals from a variety of perspectives
to discuss a common theme, challenge, or
goal. By presenting multiple points of view,
panels give attendees the opportunity to
weigh various aspects of the topic and spark
ideas or conversations that carry over to
other parts of the conference. Many panels
emphasize discussions and collaboration
between panelists and attendees, expanding
the interactive aspect of the conference.
In the past, representatives from partner
organizations have participated in these
panels, increasing their visibility and
maximizing their fifrm’s takeaways from the
conference.

Workshops take the energy of the
speaker and panel sessions and channel it
into even more interactive programs for
attendees. They provide opportunities for
hands-on learning as well as for attendees
to collaborate with each other, speakers,
panelists, and other presenters. This year,
we are hoping to partner with organizations
that are interested in engaging a small group
of attendees to apply their diverse back-
grounds and knowledge bases to a problem
they would like to have solved in a sponsored
workshop.

ExposureLast year, A Better World by Design
attracted over 1,000 attendees, twice as
many as the year before and had a dedicated
online following of over 5,000. In 2011, we
expect the conference to grow even further,
reaching a larger and more diverse following
than ever before by engaging the community
and expanding our web presence to give
even more people access to the speakers
and panelists we host.
Our attendees are, by mere virtue of being at
the conference, interested in new products
and ideas. Overwhelmingly young and
extremely diverse, they share a passion for
improving the world not captured completely
at any other event. They hail from all across
the northeast, and in some cases travel
across the country and even across the world
to be a part of A Better World by Design.
