Hello Miss Jacque! Thanks for helping with our 7th grade students, ELA teacher, & anwering our ques-tions

What’s your favorite color? I have two: aqua and black.

What’s your favorite ani-mal? I love monkeys and birds. When I was little, I was really into Curious George, and I love bird watching!

What is it like seeing your daughter at school? I enjoy seeing my daughter at school. Spending our days in the same place helps us to understand what each other's day might have been like.

Why did you want to become a teacher?I homeschooled my kids for six years. That's when I realized how much I enjoy every part of the educational process. I believe one of the most rewarding things you can do in life is helping others. As a teacher aid, I get to spend my whole day doing just that. It makes me happy when I help a student figure out a problem, navigate a challenging assign-ment, and celebrate the victory of a well-earned grade.

What college did you go to? I went to Columbus State Community College and majored in Dietetics, which is the study of human nutrition, its effects on health and the regulation of diet.

What’s your favorite food? Spaghetti and meatballs.

If you could go to one place, where would you go?I have always wanted to go to Italy. I’m fascinated by Ro-man history and would enjoy the authentic Italian food.

Where did you go for your honeymoon? My husband of 17 years and I spent a week in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

What is/was your favorite Band while growing up or now?I love all music so I could not pick one. Growing up, I lis-tened to everything from Garth Brooks to Whitney Hous-ton to Guns n Roses. Now, I listen to bands like I Am They and Selah.

5 Strange Facts about CandyIt seems to be unclear how the Candy Month originated, but research says it goes way back to the 9th century with ROCK candy! And rock can-dy was initially in the form of medicine like a cough drop of today! COTTON CANDY was co-created by a dentist! Go figure! Accident or smart way to get patients?! CANDY CORN is the #1 selling candy in America. We purchase about 20 million pounds each year. Google has found it to be the most searched candy term with most of these searches coming from Alabama. In the 1800’s, apparently doctors recom-mended CHOCOLATE to make you feel better! Acci-dents are sweet things sometimes. Joseph Fralinger was selling taffy along the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, NJ when a storm blew salt water all over his concession. A girl still ate some and liked it, so he created the original version of SALT WATER TAFFY with 25 flavors. See link below.

Our Privacy: Hacking: Apple -- What do they have in common?By: Caitelynne W.

If you have watched or read the news you most likely have seen, a terrorist’s iPhone has been hacked without Apple’s help. The FBI, who hacked the iPhone, will not tell Apple how they hacked the phone. This means Apple cannot fix further problems of citizens hacking iPhones, unless they confess how they hacked the terrorist’s iPhone. As Apple Inc. declined to aid saying to do so, “it would compromise with the security of all iPhone users.” This means they had no other way but to hack the iPhone themselves. The FBI simply said they bought ‘a tool’ to help hack the iPhone. Said “The people we bought this from, I know a fair amount about them, and I have a high degree of confidence that they are very good at protecting it, and their motivations align with ours.” Also said, the device bought only works on few iPhone models, does not include the newest models or the 5S. With all the new iPhone updates on mod-els, soon this hack won’t work for most IPhone users. Comey, FBI agent, said the government was deciding whether to tell Apple Inc. how they pulled off the hack. “We tell Apple, then they’re going to fix it, then we’re back to where we started from.” This situation has gone on for a long time, as of March 30, 2016 Apple Inc. still did not know how the FBI hacked the IPhone. You might be wondering, the terrorist’s name. San Bernardino, December 2nd a shooting started at a lunch for his employ-ees. Fourteen dead, twenty-two wounded. The FBI suspected that there was evidence on the iPhone. If you wish to go further into detail, speak with your parents and ask to read news articles. Know, Apple did not help with the iPhone hack in no way shape or form. Even though you may not have an iPhone or Apple product that doesn’t mean your phone can’t be hacked, it’s just as easy to hack any phone. Don’t let this caution you, the reason again why San Bernardino’s phone was hacked is because he is a terrorist.

Tween Depression: It’s Real:(

Have you ever seen or witnessed someone who has been dealing with depression or anxiety? Depression, anxiety, self-harm, and suicidal

thoughts are not as noticeable as you think. Some signs of depression are feeling hopeless, helpless, insecure, worthless, alone, like no one cares, etc. Depression can be hard to describe--you only really understand it if you have it.

Some signs of anxiety are being restless, can’t stop moving/shaking, having constant fear or worried that something bad is going to happen. Anxiety can be easi-er to tell than depression. (Continued on Page 9)

End of Year InformationBy: Lilly T. and Kayleigh L.

The end of the year is near! On Tuesday, May 10, we will have approximately 15 more days of school. Mrs. McMahan’s Microsoft Apps class made a friendly letter to Mr. Burggraf about ideas for the last day of school, this was a good way to express one’s opinion in a polite way. Many students wanted a cook out, to get out early, and play a variety of games or different activities. We hope you are excited about the yearbooks coming -- a page has been added in the 2015-16 yearbook in remembrance of Ms. Fry. The yearbook will also have photos of important events throughout the school year, superlatives for the eighth-graders and of course, student school pic-tures. The school will have a few extras for students that didn’t get one ordered. They are $18.00. Make sure you keep track of the school countdown and make the most of our last weeks of school. Maybe you will want to make a Summer 2016 Bucket List of your own. Make sure to clean out your lockers and check out the lost and found for items you may have misplaced during the last semester.

The new status quo deeply divides members of the team. Captain America (Chris Evans) believes superheroes should remain free to defend humanity without government interference. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) sharply dis-agrees and supports oversight. As the debate escalates into an all-out feud, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) must pick a side.

We hope you have a great summer break and keep in mind that there are lots of upcoming movies for all people in your family or friend group.

(Continued from page 1) This year, most of the Sixth-graders went to Camp, although, some students stayed back and came to school. This was the basic schedule all week. Although the core classes changed teachers every day; first we had Mrs. Harrah then Mrs. Mathis and lastly, we had Mrs. Wade. We watched movies after our work was done, we watched; Jack and Jill, Space Jam, Prince of Egypt, the Good Dinosaur and Goosebumps. On Thursday, we made a 14-slide PowerPoint of Ancient China’s Inven-tions. Another fun thing we did was, in Art-we did calligraphy. We played lots of fun games in Gym and to end the fun, on Friday, we met our friends in the Cafe-teria and watched a movie.

( Continued from Page 4) Sometimes people self-harm because they get bullied, abused, put down, and sometimes they feel really bad about themselves. Self-harm is a serious problem in young kids and teens and needs to be treated immediately. Self-harm happens everywhere you go, you just don’t realize how bad it really is.

Suicidal thoughts can be caused by all of the above. Depression can get really bad if it does not get treated in time, it can then come to self-harm, and at times even suicide.Ways to help someone. There are many ways to help someone. Helping with mental illness can be difficult, but helpful to those who suffer with men-tal illnesses. Sometimes just talking to someone and telling them you understand and being there for them are enough, most of the time all they want is someone to be there and understand.

Experiences with mental health (Two Anonymous Submissions)

I myself have been through depression, anxiety, panic disor-der and other disorders. I have attempted suicide, self-harmed, and been in the hospital because of depression, bullying, and abuse. It’s not fun and is really hard to deal with. Depression is not something you fake, it’s very serious. To this day I still battle depression and my many disorders, but I’m have a prescribed anti-depressant and work with the appropriate medical person, and I’m getting better. I still get bullied, but I’m dealing with it. I have not self-harmed in a couple months and my depression has lightened up.

I have also dealt with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and self-harm. My depression started two years ago, my self-harm started last year when I was going through a really difficult time and I thought I was alone. I met some amazing people and they have been able to help me through my struggles. Until this year when someone I thought cared about me broke my heart into many pieces. My friends were able to pick some of the pieces up, but there was still a piece missing. Then I met a very important person who filled the missing piece in my heart. My point is with the right people you will be able to get through anything. I’m so thankful for everyone who saved me and was always there for me! I love you all so much, thanks for always being here!

So I hope that with this it helps and people will help and fight these mental illnesses/disorders. You can help.
