ACCOMODATION: Apartment in the beachside village of Caleta de Famara, Lanzarote��

Accommodation is found in the beautiful old beachside village of Caleta de Famara. This village, and the beach itself, are in a protected area of natural beauty. Once you have booked, you will be allocated an apartment in the village, based on your group size. All apartments are 0-2 minutes walk from the beach (some beachside) and around 5-10 minutes walk to the surf school. All apartments have separate bedrooms and a spacious living room, some with balconies or outside space. There is also car parking. The well-equipped kitchens will come in useful since this is a self-catering experience. Bedding and towels are provided. If you have any specific requests for your accommodation in terms of facilities or location, please email [email protected] and we will try to accommodate this based on availability at time of booking. PRACTICAL INFORMATION ON SURFING: Schedule

The surf school is a 5-10 minute walk along Famara Beach from your apartment. Courses begin at 10:30 and finish at 16:00. A picnic lunch is provided at 13:00. �

Clothing

2mm and 3mm wetsuits are provided and the waters off Lanzarote are warm, although you may want to bring your own wetsuit. Further to this, don’t forget your swimwear and summer casual wear. Sunblock SPF 30+ is recommended on all course days.

Tuition Info

Beginners’ first lessons are on soft trainer boards, these boards helping you to stand and ride waves on your first day, before moving on to fibreglass boards during the course. Surfers with more experience begin riding production boards or you may wish to bring your own board.

Courses are run in small groups (always more fun) but each individual is taught at their own speed and to their own needs. On our courses you will learn to ride broken and unbroken waves, how to turn and manoeuvre correctly, how to paddle out through waves, and many other board skills.

What makes this course so special is the overall view of surfing provided. Surf subjects, such as surfboard design, the history of surfing, weather and waves, surfing fitness, the rules of surfing, types of surf spots, and more will expand your knowledge of this incredible sport.

For those already with surfing skills, you can reach a new level. Members of the British Team have trained there and in the words of three-time British Longboard Champion, Lee Ryan: “You won’t find coaching like this anywhere else”.

Surf safety is an important factor. No matter what your level of surfing, beginner or experienced these instructors are all professional beach lifeguards, and will make sure you learn safety knowledge that will always make surfing fun.

Surf Conditions

The Canary Islands has surf through all seasons, providing excellent surfing conditions at all times. The course is open to those with no or very little surfing experience and to surfers with experience, who wish to improve and expand their skills.

Alone or with a friend?

Not sure about coming alone? You won’t feel lonely as learning in a group is a great way to learn a new sport and meet friends with a similar mindset. It’s popular with all ages, both male and female.



FULL ITINERARY DAY 1: Thursday Fly into Lanzarote (at a time that suits you) and either pick up your hire car and drive to your apartment, or meet your pre-arranged taxi. Once in the village, a representative will meet you and show you to your apartment and the local area. Spend time settling into your surroundings – maybe stock up the fridge in the local shop. YOUR SURFING DAYS: Friday, Saturday, Sunday After breakfast, stroll across Famara beach to the surf school. Courses begin at 10:30 and finish at 16:00 each day. A picnic lunch is provided on tuition days at 13:00. For the 3 night experience, you will receive 3 days of tuition. In the evenings, either relax in your apartment, or if you want some action, head into the nearby resort of Puerto del Carmen for the nightlife. Day 4: Sunday After your lesson on Sunday and dependent on your outbound plans, why not explore a bit of the island before catching your flight home? Lanzarote is a totally volcanic island only 56 miles long and 20 miles wide, producing a surreal yet beautiful landscape. The perfect way to end your marine Lanzarote experience.
