FIRST-TIME FRESHMAN GUIDECal State Fullerton is consistently recognized nationally as a top public

comprehensive university in the West. With more than 38,000 students,

Cal State Fullerton is an in-demand choice. Applying to CSUF is a competitive

process, so it’s important to be well-prepared academically and meet all

deadlines and requirements.

Important Points to RememberCSUF is a very competitive and impacted campus and there are more qualified applicants than we are able to accommodate. As

a result, all freshman applicants in and outside our local admissions area must anticipate meeting higher levels of competition than the minimum CSU eligibil-ity. Local area students are not guaranteed admission if they only meet mini-mum eligibility. Therefore it’s very important to be well-prepared academically and complete all deadlines.

After applying, you will be assigned a CSUF email address accessible through your student portal at my.fullerton.edu. It’s important to check your portal on a regular basis. You will receive a campuswide ID (CWID), which you will need in all contact with the University.

Tuition and Fees (undergraduate fees per semester as of fall 2016)

• CA Residents: more than 6 units: $3,282* • CA Residents: 6 units or less: $2,133* • Non-California residents: Add $372 per unit* (in addition to basic tuition and fees)

*Fees are subject to change. Please visit sfs.fullerton.edu.

All freshmen must submit test scores from either the SAT I (old or new) of the College Board or the ACT regardless of grade point average. Please Note: If the SAT I or ACT test is taken more than once, we will give students the benefit of the highest overall scores received, instead of the highest scores received at an individual sitting. CSUF does not include the writing scores from either test in the computation of the Eligibility Index.

CSU Eligibility Index

To calculate your eligibility index from your old SAT score: Multiply your GPA by 800. Add that total to your old SAT score (Critical Reading and Mathematics only). To calculate your eligibility index from your new SAT score: Multiply your GPA by 800. Add that total to your new SAT score (EBRW and Mathematics only). To calculate your eligibility index from your ACT score: Multiply your GPA by 200 and add that total to 10 times the ACT composite score. Formulas are below:

SAT (old): (GPA x 800) + SAT Critical Reading + SAT Mathematics = CSU Eligibility IndexSAT (new): (GPA x 800) + SAT EBRW + SAT Mathematics = CSU Eligibility IndexACT: (GPA x 200) + (ACT Composite x 10) = CSU Eligibility Index

Note: High school GPA is calculated using only the grades from A-G courses in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades.
