Public Consultation on European Territorial Co-Operation Programmes 2014 – 2020

e Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) has launched a public consultation on the European Territorial Co-Operation Programmes for 2014 – 2020 and would very much welcome your views on the shape of these new programmes.

You are invited to attend a public consultation event on Tuesday 23rd October 2012 in the Mill Park Hotel, Donegal Town from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. Should you wish to attend this event, please register your interest by e-mailing: [email protected]

Further details on the dra regulations can be found at: http://www.seupb.eu/2014-2020Consultation/overview.aspx

e PEACE III Partnership has also o! ered great opportunities to work with the statutory agencies in delivering innovative solutions and we have been able to bene t mutually from projects which not only tie in with our organisations objectives but more importantly o! er opportunities for individuals who otherwise would not have been able to avail of training/events.

ere have been some very good relationships built over the period. I feel we have learned a lot in Donegal over the past Programme and there have been some great outcomes from the PEACE III Programme. We need to keep reminding ourselves that the innovative idea which formed part of the plan is only as good as the participation in the programme.

e engagement of people in the community is of utmost importance and cannot be underestimated. I am con dent that the learning from PEACE III can be built upon going forward and that the work will continue to make Donegal a better place for all, where we all feel we belong”.

PEACE People SEUPB Notes

On Monday, August 20th, Uachtarán CLG, Mr. Liam O’Neill visited O’Donnell Park, Letterkenny to launch the PEACE III GAA For All initiative. rough this bold coaching initiative, St. Eunan’s GAA Club will employ 4 full time coaches in the greater Letterkenny area to bring Gaelic Games to children of religious, ethnic and cultural backgrounds that would not usually be associated with the GAA.

e coaches will work with all local schools and clubs that wish to avail of this fantastic opportunity to introduce their children to our National games and culture in a safe environment free from all forms of sectarianism and racial undertones. ere was a large attendance of local school Principals and teachers present at the launch and they are very eager to get this programme up and running in the very near future.

President O’Neill was fulsome in his praise for the St. Eunan’s club for seeking the funding for this fantastic new programme and noted with delight the fact that so many schools and other local GAA clubs would also bene t from the programme.

Councillor Dessie Larkin, Chair of Donegal CDB Peace and Reconciliation Partnership noted that the group were hugely impressed by the St. Eunan’s proposal when it was rst presented both for its e! ort at recognising the need for social inclusion and diversity within the GAA and for having the foresight to seek funding outside the realms of the GAA.

St. Eunan’s Club Chairman Paul Carr commented that it was a very proud day for the club to introduce the initiative and he thanked the team of Paddy Mullen, Gerard

McGinley, Dermot Higgins, Co. Treasurer Grace Boyle and Stephen Friel for their help in making this coaching dream become a reality for Letterkenny and its environs. He was especially appreciative of the signi cance of the visit of the President and thanked him for taking the time to launch the GAA For All Initiative and for recognising the importance of this project for modern Irish society. For further information contact [email protected]

Donegal Sports Partnership and Copius Consulting have successfully secured funding for a second year, to design and deliver an Innovative Sports & Recreation Programme of Activity.

! is programme has been supported by the PEACE III Programme, managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by Donegal County Council.

! e programme will focus primarily on sport and the development of greater links between clubs, communities and national governing bodies. In addition, key principles of the programme include the promotion of inclusion and integration amongst communities as well as developing an understanding of key issues such as cultural diversity, racism and sectarianism.

! is project believes that sport has a key role to play in addressing social and societal issues, and therefore enhanced relationships between clubs and communities will go a long way towards not only improving sports participation and performance, but improving sports participation and performance, but improving relationships between and within communities.

Donegal Sports Partnership are seeking partnership approaches from sports clubs and community organisations, who will be asked to team up and submit a combined expression of interest form to participate in the programme. Successful partnerships will then undergo a series of training and participation opportunities and engage directly with a range of national governing bodies of sport.

Essentially the project will enable clubs and communities to purchase equipment, participate in a range of training courses, deliver community based sports programme and participate in community based taster sessions.

In order to ensure that the programme adequately meets the needs of clubs and communities across Donegal, you are invited to have your say. If you could take the time to complete this simple survey, https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/innovativesportsprogramme it will make an enormous contribution to the overall project.
