Morphos Team is led by Expert Coach: Sophia TanSophia Tan is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Morphos International Pte Ltd, a growing coaching, training and consultancy service provider, with regional presence in Singapore, Peninsular Malaysia, East Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. She is responsible for designing and delivering people solutions to companies and developing global talents to expand the work of Morphos in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Sophia Tan graduated in Masters of Social Science – Counselling (University of South Australia). She is certified in PEAKS – Level 3, which enables her to use the personality profiling technology at the individual, team and organisational levels. In addition, she also attained the Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA), as awarded by the Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and is a Qualifying Blue Ocean Strategy Practitioner as recognised by the Blue Ocean Strategy Initiative Centre, London.

Transforming lives since 1983, Sophia has accumulated rich experiences in handling intricate and sensitive people issues. Her artful ability to unearth hidden problems and resolving issues at their roots make her an invaluable partner in organisation development, change management and conflict mediation.

Promotion of manager leads to business going to the brink of bankruptcy

Issue: As reward for good performance, one outstanding staff member was promoted to be a manager. In spite of the good intentions, the business declined and was soon in the red. The team was very discouraged and considered leaving the company. Solution: Morphos was invited by the company director to assess and diagnose the root of the problem. We discovered that the newly promoted manager’s strengths were in sales and not in management. Adopting our advice, a potential manager was appointed deputy manager to manage the team and the newly promoted manager was released to focus on sales. Result: In 6 months, the company turned around from loss into profit. Staff morale was restored and good staff retained.

Differences in top management leads to establishment of “silos” at lower levels

Issue: Unresolved differences at top level management in terms of strategic direction and opinions led to the establishment of silos in the company, each supporting the director of their choice and not cooperating with others to the detriment of business performance. Practical, experiential and fun learning

Solution: Morphos was brought in by the company HR to look into the problem of ‘silos’ in the company. Upon assessment, we found the cause of the problem to be the misalignment of the top management. Hence we conducted a series of top management team coaching sessions to unearth hidden issues so as to bring resolution to the conflicts among the top management.

Result: Positive behavioural changes in the top management cascaded throughout the company, breaking silos and increasing collaboration for business performance.
