Students from our school have recently undertaken, an education tour of the national capital.
Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with
a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to
visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in
meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $20
per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs.
The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion and has already
been passed onto students by way of discount before camp.
Jump Rope for Heart Jump Off day!
This Thursday students in Years 3 to 6 will participate in their Jump off session to raise funds
for The Heart foundation.
Students will have a session to share skipping skills and fun all in the name of health and
charity.
If you have raised funds online, we thank you for your support!
Any other money not collected online is due to the office this week. Please make sure you
have returned money to the office by the end of term!
Happy heart and great skipping!
KD
Last week KD and some of our fantastic parent helpers went exploring around our school for
different types of leaves. We made a whole community of leaf people and wrote descriptive
sentences about them. KD are very proud of how much we have learnt over the last 6
months!
Stage 1 - Project Based Learning
1H and 2V have been working hard on their projects this term. The students were given a
'problem', that Year 6 needed help to raise funds for their farewell. The students then formed
groups and decided upon a product that they could create and sell at school. There are a
variety of products that will be available to be sold including plants, fancy pencils, cookies,
lemonade and even edible slime! We hope you will be able to join us!
PBL SHOWCASE DAY
Date: Wednesday 4th August 2018
Time: 1:40- 2:30
There will be also be a small sausage sizzle available for purchase on the day!
Stage 2 - Science Incursion
Stage Two recently had Ranger Jamie and his crew visit our school for a day of hands on
science fun. Students participated in a variety of activities to support the topics learned in
class this semester. They learned about solids, liquids and gases and how they interact with
each other to change form. We made lava lamps, exploding bags, exploding rockets... did
someone say 'HOT DOGS?' and of course the winner of the day Oobleck. Oobleck was the best
fun and the most mess! Sorry Mums and Dads for the messy clothes at the end of the day but
we had a BLAST!!!
Transition to High School - A Taste of Cecil Hills High School
Year Six Students were invited to experience a day in the life
of a high school student last Monday at Cecil Hills High School.
Year Six experienced a variety of lessons including woodwork,
cooking and art. It was a great day. It is always lovely to hear
reports back from CHHS that our students were safe, respectful
learners. A great experience as high school draws closer.
Stage 3 Camp

We would like to wish Miss Dixon all the best for her special day. She will be on leave from
