Dear Parents and Caregivers.
Welcome new pupils to our school;
Frankie Xu, Mohammed Ubayd,
Valarie Theavy, Dylan Nguyen, Ryan
Nguyen, Faiauga Ah Kee, Olivia
Kumar.
Pupil sickness. If your
child is unwell and then
being sent to school is
inappropriate. We have
had to send home a
number of pupils who
have come to school
feeling sick or unwell and then have got
worse during the day. Children with a
temperature, sneezing constantly, are
nauseous or sleepy should be kept at
home. As well if pupils require
medication then a conversation with the
school office is needed. No medication is
able to be given to pupils unless we are
aware of this and written notification is
accepted by the school office. This is all
explained in our school medication policy
and required under health and safety
guidelines.
School Learning Conferences. Just a
reminder about our upcoming ‘Learning
Conferences’. These are being held in
the afternoon / evenings of Wednesday
6th and Thursday 7th July. Details on
how families book the times on line are
explained on the attached information
sheet. We as a school look forward to
sharing your child's learning with you all
over these two days.
Reminder that
school finishes for
all pupils at
1.05pm on both
days.
Inter school sports field day was held
last Tuesday at Bruce Pulman Park
Papakura. Our results were pleasing
with all teams having wins through out
the day.

A big thank you to all of the
coaches and supporters of
these teams. Well done to
you all.
Arriving at School.
I must ask all families
to please not let their
children arrive at
school before
8.00am. Recently
children have turned up at school just
after 7.00am when it was raining, was
still dark and no classrooms were
opened. In fact staff were not even at
school! I am very concerned that while it
may suit families and work
commitments to drop children off early it
is not safe or appropriate. 8.00am
onwards please.
School Driveway and pupil safety.
Under new Health and Safety guidelines
our Board of Trustees are reviewing
how our school driveway operates both
in the morning and afternoon times.
A new procedure will be established
and all parents will be
made aware of changes
over the coming fortnight.
Controlling car access
into and out of the
driveway and the safe movement of
pupils is our priority.
Winter school uniform. Our uniform
policy states that black or red skivvies
can be worn under the school polo
shirt and polar fleece. Woollen hats
and other jackets can be worn to and
from school but not at school please.
Please ensure all uniform items are
named as it is impossible to find your
son or daughters misplaced uniform if it
is unnamed. Angels Fashion in old
Papatoetoe has all of our winter uniform
requirements, including school rain
jackets, long sleeve polo shirts and
school beanies. Angels Fashion are a
very good supporter of our school!
Kindest regards

As our major school fundraiser this year, we are going to hold
a math-a-thon. We ask that for the remainder of Term 2 you
support your child to collect sponsors and learn their basic facts.
A newsletter, sponsorship sheet and a basic facts sheet will be sent
home early next week. Your child’s teacher has selected a basic
facts sheet appropriate for their current learning. We ask that
students collect sponsorship from family members, friends and other
“well known” adults, you help us ensure that all pupils are safe and
discourage them from getting sponsorship from “unknown” people
away from their home or close neighborhood.
All sponsor sheets must be accounted for and signed off by
the classroom teacher. If you do not want your child collecting
sponsors, the sponsor sheet must still be signed by a parent /
caregiver and returned to the classroom teacher as soon as
possible. Pupils not given permission by parents to collect sponsors
will still be expected to complete the basic facts test at school. Any
questions please feel free to contact Mrs Eley through the school
office.
Learning Conferences
Online Booking
The dates are set for Wednesday 6th July and Thursday 7th July.
PLEASE NOTE: School will close at 1.05pm ON BOTH DAYS.
Meetings to begin at 1.45pm.
It is time again for you to meet with your child and their teacher to discuss their learning at
our second ‘Learning Conference’ for 2016.
The purpose of these meetings is for your child to share their learning journey with their parents, family
and whanau. You will receive a written report prior to the Learning Conference which will give you an
indication of your child’s progress against the National Standards and provides the basis for the
discussion. Please bring your child and this report to the Learning Conference.
Please login at your earliest convenience to book a time or if required, visit the school office.
