We are currently seeking physi-cians and nurses for the summer of 2011. Do you know of anyone who might like to be a camp doctor or nurse?

Nurses and Doctors are needed for a mini-mum stay of three weeks, families can be accommodated.

Please call the office if you know anyone that might be interested.

Here we go again. Barbara and I are back from an incredible trip to Israel and we’re ready to go.

The return applications for staff are coming in like mad. We have already heard from many of our returning staff and are receiving new applications every day.

2011 will welcome the new camp office and visitors center. We can also look forward to the new camp store.

Registration is just unreal. Please note the fol-lowing: We are now just under two thirds filled.

We are already forced to turn away certain age groups in sessions two and three. In the next Performer we will be forced to announce the closing of many sessions by age. Give us a call, or return your registration before you are closed out. We would love to have you join us in 2011.

Why chose an individually programmed sessional specialty camp as opposed to a tra-ditional camp?An individually programmed camp like French Woods allows children to choose the ac-tivities that they would like to participate in. It allows the parents to be able to afford a portion of the camp experience at a reasonably priced tuition. It gives the family more flexibility for their own time together. Parents have asked me about the importance of the bunk in terms of the “total camp experience.” In my over 30 years of camping, I have always viewed the individually programmed cre-ative arts camp as a camp that offers all the activities and experiences that any camp

in the world could provide and then much, much more. I tried various camps for my children, traditional and sports camps. my own children were very much sports oriented kids. my son became a three letter man in high school and college; a captain of two teams. my daughter was the captain of her high school softball team. I wanted my children exposed to the boys and girls that attended a camp with an abundance of cre-ative and artistic activities. my kids loved sports, the outdoors, and the like. I realized that at a camp like French Woods they could partake in swimming and sailing, and tennis, and baseball and basketball, and fencing, and wrestling, and biking, and hockey, and skating and football and soccer, yes and even horseback riding; but they could also learn to play an instrument, be in a Broadway show with a full pit, be in a band or orchestra, learn to dance, build a set, learn about video, sound, and lighting, throw a pot, make a puppet, screen a shirt, create an animation, produce a movie, record their own music, fly on the trapeze or jam with a rock band, the list is endless. Through all of these activities, one thing that stands out in my mind is the tremendous support that the camp-ers give to one another. The creative arts camper is more precocious and more introspective than the aver-age child; they are brighter, more inquisitive, creative, motivated and supportive. This is just the environment in which I would want my children to be exposed. At my son’s wedding, there were four tables of former campers. One table was full with boys from his very first bunk (age 6), the young men he started camp with, and almost twenty years later still counted them as his most important friends. All camps build this kind of camaraderie. Parents just seem to be surprised by the strong bonds created at the individualized creative arts camp. Remember, it is still CAmP. my little ones, who are still at camp, were on the computer last night speaking to their camp friends from around the country and making plans to visit with them whenever the chance presented itself. It is these precisely these relationships which will last a lifetime. The sharing and the camaraderie are incomparable.

Isaac PS: there are only 220 days until we open our doors to session 1, 2011. (And 219 days until session 2.) Can’t wait - regards to allRose and I are on our way back to Newburyport, mA for the bris of my fourth grandchild, named Sammy, to go with Teddy, Lilly, and Danny. We had a great trip to Israel with Ron and Barbara, and I thank Ron and Barbara, as well as Rose for making sure that I made this trip. Rose and I spent some real quality time with Rose’s daughter Sara, who lives and works in Israel. We will begin posting our open house schedule for prospective campers and we can always use your help. Let me know if you are available or would like to host an open house for French Woods.

Isaac’s Corner Camper & Staff News

Beth BackstageAs you can see we have put together a tentative show schedule for the summer of 2011. We are planning some fantastic favorites and, as always, we will have several making their French Woods debut this sum-mer. We have been in contact with many of you and have taken several of your suggestions into account. I think that the show selection is particularly good this year. It’s looking like theater heaven in 2011!

We have sent out most of our returning counselor invitations for the 2011 season and it looks as though we will have quite the fabulous staff. There will be many returning staff members and we are starting the drive to recruit new staff from all over the country and all over the world. Things are busy in the French Woods office these days!

I hope school is going well & I look forward to seeing you all next summer!
