Mullion are today's visitors and we welcome them to

Perranwell for a Jolly’s Combination League game.

Both teams are desperate for points to move them up the

league to safety.

I have been pleased with the commitment the side have

shown and with some luck we could have gained more

points over the last few weeks.

With our pitch frozen for the game against St. Day two

weeks ago, one of our stalwarts George Singleton slipped

on the field and unfortunately broke his leg, we all wish

him a speedy recovery, meanwhile a volunteer is required

to supply the wine gums

Pendeen 2- 2 Perranwell

This was the definition a game of two halves. A well fought game played in a passionate manner by both sides. Perranwell went 1 nil up 20 minutes into the first half thanks to Liam Paddock sloted the ball home after a neatly played through ball by midfielder Thomas Phillips. Gavin Boon put Perranwell 2 goals up 10 minutes later after a nice move down the right wing.

The second half saw a different story, Perranwell were unable to close the game out and it was a poor clearance from a Pendeen Corner, which allowed Adam George to fire home through crowded penalty box. Perranwell had chances to close the game out with Matt Rose and Gavin Boom coming close. However, with 5 minutes to go, a poorly timed tackle in the box led to Jack Ramsey slotting the Penalty home to save a point for the home side.

St Just 3- 1 Perranwell

After the Previous weeks game had been cancelled, Perranwell looked to use this game to springboard themselves into the top half of the table. However, it wasn't to be. St Just went into the lead with a low drilled shot by Darren Steadman after Perranwell yet again failed to clear their lines. However 5 minutes later Samuel Phillips finished off a slick counter attack with a fine header to put Perranwell back on level terms. Both sides had chances to take the lead however the game was tied up at half time.

The second half saw St Just take control of the game. The second half saw Jack Willis score the clinical second goal that both teams had craved and St Just went 2-1 up with 25 minutes remaining. Despite Perranwell's determination to claw back another equalizer, it was Neil Curnow who put the game to rest with curling shot with 10 minutes to go. Perranwell left empty handed, but could have no complaints over which team deserved to win. Full credit will go to St Just, and Perranwell will have to hope that they can get back on track next week at home to Mullion.

Name: Mullion Ground: Clifden Park Colours: All red League Winners: 1986, 1991 and 1992

ALTHOUGH the cold snap again affected the Combination League and Cup programme, Saturday's matches that did survive the weather produced some significant results at both ends of the table.

Two of the four clubs currently embroiled in a battle against relegation met at Clifden Parc, where third from bottom Mullion climbed out of the drop zone with an emphatic 5-1 home win over fellow strugglers Holmans.

But it was the visitors who found themselves a goal ahead at half-time after Jason Blight headed them into an 18th minute lead from Adam Gill's cross.

Holmans had chances to extend their lead with Blight and Adam Meredith both squandering good opportunities and these were to prove costly as Mullion found their best form with a dominant second half performance.

After a half-time roasting from manager Danny Hickey, Mullion appeared a yard quicker all over the park and strikers Dan Thomas and Sean Haskell-Mills helped themselves to a brace apiece, with Jacob Lugg also getting on the scoresheet with a 25-yard free-kick.

It was Mullion's first win since October 29 and saw them complete the league 'double' over Holmans, who slipped back into the bottom two after this heavy defeat, their 17th of the season.
