FISHER‘N’CHIPS

With the season drawing to a close, we seem to be getting a settled

team, playing decent football and showing the form that deserted us

at the start of the campaign.

The presentation dinner date and venue will be announced soon and

everyone is welcome. It will be interesting to see who wins 'what'

awards, I have my own thoughts.

I would like to thank second team manager Mark Wood for

providing some useful additions to the club and in particular goal

keeper Harry Rimmer and Dave Standing who have stepped into

senior football with ease.

Wendron are today's visitors and we know it will be a tough game,

they have kept in the top six all season and trounced us 0 - 5 in the

cup, so we will have to be at our best.

The next game is at home to Falmouth Athletic on Tuesday

(6:15pm) and the final league game of the season is away to

Porthleven Reserves the following Saturday. Hope to see you there.

What does one say on this very last edition of The Well produced and edited by Sam and Tom (the twins) as they will be returning home in the next few months. As everyone knows how hard it is to keep striving forward with a senior and junior club, funding, hands on workers etc and these guys who would hardly say a word when they turned up 2 and half years ago wanting to play football!! We (as a club) have been very lucky to have had them around as they have been great both on and off the field, and I think they have come out of their shells! On the playing side the team has had a good run as of late winning the last 4 games , with a great result last Tuesday at the league leaders Penryn. More pleasing is that we do have a very good bunch of young guys who many have come up from the reserves and with some coaching will learn! I must also thank Mum on her years of missing most of the home fixtures as she is in the tea hut. Dave Fish who is a legend and the quiet guy who seems to think we have a mixer and a man on all game (Cads), Tony the hit man Paddock, Sam Mead, Dicky, Joe, Simon, Wine gum man, Barry D, Mark Wood, Bambi and our supporters and sponsors. .And last but not least you the players, we can still win a trophy so come on! Don't forget the end of season awards night and Perranwell golf day. I would like to wish Sam and Tom my very sincere wishes for there future. Prediction: Perranwell 3-2 Wendron United

Wendron look set to end the season in their highest position for some seasons. The side has built on from last year in becoming a strong combination outfit who believe that they can challenge for honours soon enough. The young squad are continuing to impress and have a good footballing philosophy, which has helped attract players but also brought attention from other clubs. Wendron hope to build on their league position in the end of season run in and continue to push toward the promotion places for South Western League football.
