EmploymentJamie’s Italian Exeter – Sous Chef/Front of House member

My Responsibilities at Jamie’s Italian whilst being a Sous Chef was to create exceptional quality food, which would be served to customers. I was given the responsibility of preparing the food and taking in deliveries. When I was working as a Front of House server, my role was to prepare and lay tables ready for the customers also I made sure the restaurant was tidy and up to the highest standard. Whilst being a sous chef I learnt time efficiency and precision skills as I had to ensure that the food was prepared quickly whilst ensuring it was precise and detailed. During my time as a sous chef and front of House member I learnt the skill of communication as I had to prepare the food in accordance with other areas of the kitchen and also had to communicate with the customers details of the dishes we offered. Whilst working at Jamie’s Italian, I got to improve my teamwork skills, as there was a vast range of colleagues that I had to work with on a daily basis.

Sodexo – Food Service Assistant and Bar Assistant

Whilst working for Sodexo, I was given the task of serving marines their food and coffee when they ordered it. I was also required to make sure that at the end of each night the till was cashed up and the financial documents were correctly filled out. Whilst being a bar assistant my job was to pull pints and make mixers for customer.

Marks And Spencers – Food Hall assistant temp

I worked in the M&S Food hall over Christmas as a temporary staff, which was based in Plymouth, Drakes Circus. My job role was to stack shelves and rotate stock, which required me to be quick and efficient. I was also tasked to ensure that customers were looked after if they were looking for a product or needed a problem solving. During my time working for M&S, I improved many of the skills that I had. Due to me being in contact with the general public I was able to improve my communication skills, as I had to ensure that I was clear and concise in meeting the needs of the customers. I was also able to be innovative and efficient in handling problems on a day-to-day basis as new problems always occurred and I needed to use my knowledge and problem solving skills to handle these problems. I enhanced my social and teamwork skills in this job role, as I had to work with multiple colleagues so we could be more efficient and effective.

University ExperienceWhilst studying at Plymouth University I have undertaken many task and roles whether that is for assignments or down to gaining experience. One task I was required to perform was consultancy work for a small art company, which needed help on creating marketing data, e.g. surveys, customer interaction and finding resources and information on competitors. This experience helped me improve and test my marketing skills, as I had to do a vast amount of research. I have currently completed an accountancy module which required me to create a portfolio on all different types of accountancy such as ratios and financial statements. This module has enhanced my financial skills and given me accountancy experience.Additional InformationIn my time I have been to Belgium, Netherlands, France, Germany and USA, this shows that I am able to communicate with other cultures as well as be adaptable to changing circumstances. I am IT trained and know how to use excel, word etc. also I am excellent with computers in general. Previously I did some voluntary work experience at a retirement home from 13th November 2011 – 20th November 2011 where I helped out old people with everyday jobs such as shopping, cleaning and gardening. From this experience I acquired skills such as being able to communicate with different types of people e.g. Old and disabled, as well as being able to handle different situations. I am also able to speak conversational French, Spanish and basic German. HobbiesDevon and Plymouth Football – I played football for both Devon and Plymouth when I was 15 years old. By playing football I was able to gain leadership and communication skills as on the pitch I had to be vocal to my teammates and lead them to victory.Cooking and Baking – I enjoy cooking and baking during my spare time as it allows me to relax. From this hobby I have learnt valuable skills such as time efficiency and being able to multi-task. Camping – I enjoy camping alone or with others as I find it enjoyable to get away from stresses in life. Whilst camping I have gained a range of skills such as responsibility when camping alone and communication when camping with others.
