What is Tumblr.com?

• Tumblr is a short form blogging platform that allows users to easily post text, images, video, links, quotes, and audio to their “tumblelog”

• From the dashboard (as seen below) users are able to choose how they want to blog with the click of a button.

How Does Tumblr Work?• Tumblr is a blog designed for easy sharing and

communication between users• To start a Tumblr network, users simply look through

the variety of blogs and find the ones that most interest them.

• Users are able to follo other users and see their posts on the homepage called the “dashboard”

Users can “like” or “reblog” posts from other blogs within minutes by simply clicking the heart icon

or the button that says Reblog.

Tumblr Directory• As the face of Tumblr has evolved, so have its users. • A irectory is now available for users to choose topic

blogs they are most interested in.

Tumblr Used Professionally

• For professional Tumblr users the directory feature allows for others to find them much quicker.

• Users are now able to request to or other users can Tumble blogs they think are worthy for the Directory.

• Artists are at a great advantage! • Many Tumblr users have created portfolio’s of their work

on their tumblr blog and some have even provided prices and contact information in case someone wants to purchase their work.

• Other users can alsosimply “reblog” art posts which allows for the artists work to bepast along a huge network of people.

This Artist from Rio de Janeiro has provided a full portfolio of her work with details of how each one was made. This will allow for her work to be seen around the world, which

in turn allows for an endless amount of opportunities.

• Other tumblr blogs serve as online art communities, posting original content submitted by artists around the world.

• Blogs like “Eat Sleep Draw” allow for users to easily submit their art to the site.

• When submissions are posted, bloggers give credit to the artist by linking to their respective blogs,websites, twitter accounts etc.

• A new form of art blogging on Twetches combines Tumblr and Twitter with sketching.

• Instead of only showcasing art on Tumblr, Twetches also uses Twitter “tweets” to promote art, providing links to the website.

Tumblr in a Nutshell

• Tumblr may be a relatively new blogging site, however its easy to use features allow for just about anyone to use it however they please.

• Since photo’s are what is mainly shared throughout the network, Tumblr is a great site for Artists to show their portfolio and have their art passed around through “reblogging”

• Tumblr has been transformed into an art show that can be viewed virtually around the world.
