Chapter 21Anne goes to talk to Mrs.Smith about the

concert.Mrs.Smith asks Anne to talk to Mr. Elliot about

herAnne refuses and makes Mrs. Smith

understand about how she does not want to marry Mr. Elliot

Anne accepts Mr. Elliot is a nice man, but not the man for her. She has someone else in her mind.

Mrs. Smith reveals to Anne the true character of Mr. Elliot. He’s cold hearted and egocentric.

It is revealed about the intimate friendship between Charles and Mr.Elliot.

Chapter 21Mrs.Smith and Mr. Elliot developed a

close relationship at youth, and he told her his plans about life.

Mr. Elliot only wants to reach fortune.He had married he’s past wife only

because she was rich.Mrs.Smith shows Anne a letter that says

how he would sell Kellynch.Mr. Elliot decided to be a baronet, but if

Sir Walter has a child, the child would be heritor of Kellynch

Anne is upset by this reality, but will use it to protect her family.

Mrs.Smith: Anne’s best friend, whom keeps her informed about situations.

Mr. Elliot: Anne’s cousin. He’s a smooth talker but only wants to achieve fortune.

Chapter 22Anne returns to her house and decides

to pay a visit to Lady Russell.She finds out she had evaded Mr. Elliot’s

visit but he was to return in the evening.She encounters herself with Mr. Elliot

but acts unfriendly. He now knows she was uninterested.

When Anne goes to visit Lady Russell, she finds Charles and Mary as well.

Marry brings news about how the Musgrove family is coming to Bath.

Henrietta is engaged to Charles Hayter.

Chapter 22Anne goes at visits the Musgroves.Herself and Mary spot Mr.Elliot and

Mrs. Clay having a conversation.Mary and Charles get into a discussion

on their plans of the night, and how she was interested on meeting his heir.

Anne, not wanting to meet Mr. Elliot, convince them into going to their father’s evening party.

Atmosphere: Tense, informative.

and is married to Charles Musgrove.Charles Musgrove: Mary’s husband and

is a nice, fine gentleman.Lady Russell -  Best friend of Anne’s

mother. She is the advisor of the Elliot.Mrs. Clay -  The daughter of Mr. Shepard.

Friend of Elizabeth, who although is lower class, she is well mannered. She seeks to marry Sit Walter.

Chapter 23Anne joins the Musgroves.While Anne talks to Captain Harville,

Wentworth is writing a letter.Anne has a conversation about love with

Harville, in which they disagree. Captain Wentworth hands a letter to Anne,

declaring his love towards her.She decides to go back home, accompanied

by Charles, but when they meet Captain Wentworth along the way, he joins them.

When Anne and Wentworth get time alone, they exchange vows upon their love.

Anne is in complete utter happiness.

Chapter 23Captain Wentworth apologizes for

having people persuade Anne into marrying Mr. Elliot.

At the party, Anne tells Wentworth about how Lady Russell advice her not to marry him.

Wentworth blames himself for having too much pride, but marrying her would make him happy.

Chapter 24Anne and Captain Wentworth got

engaged.Sir Walter nor Elizabeth object in the

situation.Lady Russell suffered the engagement.Mr. Elliot and Mrs. Clay leave Bath.Wentworth helps Mrs. Smith into

getting back some of the money from her husband.

The novel ends with the fact that Anne and Captain Wentworth will live forever happy.

Character’s influence on the novelOur main characters here are Anne

and Captain Wentworth. They are the center of the love, and all the drama occurs around them. Their attitudes and opinions are the ones that guide us and gives us hints of the further situations of the novel.
