Pre-requisites : Nil Support material : Course presented in class with multi media animations, video clips and movies. Tools and equipment are available for demonstrations. Course description Day 1 of this course commences with a brief history of hydrocarbons and their importance. It explores how oil is found, basic rock geology and the drilling and completing of a well. The drilling process is explained, and by the end of the first day a well has been “drilled, cased and cemented”. Day 2 covers the completion of the well, the components and covers the range of options to gain well access for service are covered – slickline, wireline, coiled tubing, snubbing and workover. Artificial Lift and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) are also discussed. As a venue for questions and class discussions these courses have proved to be a valuable way to transfer technical information and provide a better knowledge of our industry.
