Course description
Day 1 of this course commences with a brief history of hydrocarbons and their
importance. It explores how oil is found, basic rock geology and the drilling and
completing of a well.
Thedrillingprocessisexplained,andbytheendofthefirstdayawellhasbeen“drilled,
cased and cemented”.
Day 2 covers the completion of the well, the components and covers the range of
options to gain well access for service are covered – slickline, wireline, coiled tubing,
snubbing and workover.
ArtificialLiftandEnhancedOilRecovery(EOR)arealsodiscussed.
As a venue for questions and class discussions these courses have proved to be a
valuable way to transfer technical information and provide a better knowledge of our
industry.
