Director
Messagefrom the
While ever expanding its horizons in the field of management with relentless efforts towards
research, industry relations and faculty development, the National Institute of IndustrialEngineering (NITIE) has endeavored throughout the way to keep in touch with the inherent
technological bent of its pedagogy.
This brought about the culmination of the Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology
Management (PGDITM) in 2006. The course, which has been designed incorporating the latest
technology, aims to provide a connect between core management fundamentals and their practical
application in the field of Information Technology. With the global meltdown recently witnessed it
has become increasingly evident that IT and its efficient deployment would play a larger role in
business in the future.
Today, the industry is feeling the need for the proverbial "techno-manager" more than ever. The
selection criteria for the program are hence understandably rigid as students would not only need to
have a strong academic background and managerial instinct but also a proven orientation towards
the field of Information Technology.
The PGDITM program has many expectations to fulfill, many milestones to cross, and it is from the
overwhelming response received from the industry during the placement season each year that it
draws inspiration to scale new heights.
I take this opportunity to present to you, the current batch of PGDITM. I extend a warm welcome to
you to come participate in the Placements of IT Management Batch of 2011.

Associate Dean (Placement)
Today Information Technology has grown beyond its role as an enabler and gone on to become a
business in itself while retaining its indispensable role in scaling up and managing business.
Information Technology is the backbone of every corporate entity and the fastest advancing
technology ushering in a new era for businesses throughout the world. In fact, it is reshaping the
organizational imperatives and recasting the management perspectives in every realm of business
activity.
In such a scenario, harnessing the power of IT for improving effectiveness is the need of the hour for
the very survival of organizations today. There is, therefore, an ever-increasing need of IT
managers who are capable of playing the dual role of IT strategists and implementers of IT solutions.
The PGDITM programme is designed for fulfilling this need across the organizations. The
programme has been instituted keeping in view the requirement of the industry for IT-specific
managerial profiles. The batch is a perfect blend of freshers and people with work-experience from
varied backgrounds. I am sure with valuable inputs from the industry and continuous efforts on our
part, this batch of students shall meet the expectations of our recruiters.
I extend a warm welcome to you to come participate in the Placements of IT Management Batch of
2011.

NITIE is rather fastidious when it comes to admissions to the Post Graduation Diploma in
Information Technology Management (PGDITM) Program. The institute seeks students who are not
only intelligent and highly professional but who can also bring fresh perspectives and energy, during
their interactions with teachers and peers. In addition to a superior academic record and
professional achievements, NITIE values analytical thinking, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
In consonance with these objectives students are put through a multi-level admission process. The
process starts with CAT- Common Admission Test followed by group discussion exercise and ends
with interview sessions. The phased selection process at NITIE is arguably amongst the toughest in
the country, enabling only the brightest to come on board.

FinalPlacements 2010
Bearing testimony to the fact that the devastating recession that had only last year shaken the
foundations of the global economy is now a mere shadow of its former self, were the final
placements of students of the Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology Management
(PGDITM) at NITIE Mumbai. The placements in both the lateral and campus recruitment processes
broke all previous records. Completion of recruitment of all the lateral candidates on the very first
day was the initial sign of the reinforced trust of industry on PGDITM course.
A large chunk of the students were placed with consultancy firms, though the presence of the
sectors on the whole was well balanced, including banking (BFSI), core IT/System, Manufacturing
and Media. The profiles opened up included the entire spectrum of IT ranging from Modernization to
Business Process Reengineering to Consulting to Supply Chain analytics.
Consulting companies included big names like Ernst & Young and Cognizant Business Consulting,
while the banking sector was represented by Yes Bank and Deutsche Bank. Besides traditional
recruiters like Accenture and Infosys, the session also saw new recruiters like Asian Paints, Dell and
Bennett & Coleman.
Overall the final placements reflect that the PGDITM course is indeed living up to the promise with
which it was started.
