The meetings will give growers the opportunity to learn about upcoming changes to the Montana State Hemp Program due to the 2018 Farm Bill, hear about the process of establishing a commodity advisory committee, and provide input regarding a proposed assessment and method of collection. Producers present at the meetings will vote to determine whether to hold a referendum by paper ballot of all known hemp growers in the state. If that referendum passes, MDA will propose a hemp research and market development program for adoption by administrative rule.

Beware Of Phone Solicitations
Company Selling Advertising for Library Not
AuthorizedThe Sidney-Richland County Library is asking local busi-
nesses and organizations to be aware that a Texas-based company, Universal Ad, is soliciting for advertising in support of the library. “Despite the fact that we have asked Universal Ad to stop soliciting on our behalf, they have continued to do
local businesses,” explains Kelly Reisig, Director. According to the Better Business Bureau, the company has received 101 complaints in the last 3 years, and an additional 52 in just the last 12 months. As a result, their Better Business Bureau page does have an alert that the company has a pattern of disputes alleging customer service issues.
“We certainly appreciate local support. Without it we would not have a library. This business, however, provides a cautionary tale that it is better to contact the organization directly to provide support,” stated Reisig.
For questions or to see how you can support your local library, call 433-1917.

ROUNDUP, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 30, 2019 5A
WATFORD CITY 2018 HIGHLIGHTS
One of the greatest enhancements to Watford City in 2018 was the opening of the new McKenzie County Healthcare Sys-tems (MCHS) facility.
In August 2016, JE Dunn began construction on the McK-enzie County Healthcare Systems replacement medical facility. The new building opened to the public on July 1, 2018. Since then MCHS has seen approximately 2,800 emergency room pa-tients. The radiology department sees over 200 visits per month. This state-of-the-art, $76.3 million facility features a brand-new hospital and clinic as well as updates to the connected Good Shepherd Home (long-term care facility) and nearby Horizon Assisted Living. The facility is comprised of 24 inpatient rooms, nine emergency room bays and two operating rooms.
region to invest in Tru-D SmartUVC to help keep patients and staff safe from germs and hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). Tru-D is a UVC disinfection robot that is deployed after the environmental services staff cleans a room using traditional protocols. Operated from a remote control outside the room, Tru-D administers a single, lethal dose of UVC energy from one, central placement in the room, killing up to 99.9% of germs and pathogens that can be left behind. Once the cycle is complete,
can be moved to the next room.
and recruiting new providers. Three new doctors and a doctor of nursing practice have joined the staff. Orthopedic surgeon Dr.
of internal medicine Dr. Lucinda Mundorf and Leah Brewster, DNP have begun seeing patients in the new facility.
Surgical services are new to MCHS and come with a hefty
price tag. The American Legion Carl E. Rogen Post 29 is pro-viding a $25,000 donation to help offset the expense of surgical instruments. Through charitable gaming funds, they have given
over $4 million in donations to the Watford City Communitysince the early 90s. The check presentation will take place on February 7 at the Good Shepherd Home.
New McKenzie County Healthcare Systems Facility Opens Its Doors in 2018
The new McKenzie County Healthcare Systems facility is located at 709 4th Ave NE, Watford City.
Matthew Jo-hansen unseated incumbent sheriff of McKenzie Coun-ty, Gary Schwart-zenberger, and did so by a wide margin with 2,496 votes accounting for 60.89 percent of the votes cast,
amounted to an electoral landslide. Johansen had pre-viously served as
interim sheriff.Also winning
elections in 2018 were Mayor Phil Riely, McKenzie County Commissioners Kathy Skarda and Howdy Lawlar and County Recorder Katie Paulson.

WATFORD CITY 2018 HIGHLIGHTSCommunity Comes Together to Help Those Inpacted by Tornado
Tornado Recovery Completed, Says McKenzie County Emergency Manager By Jordan Hall
The storm that rocked Watford City on July 10 ended with the fatality of a young child, critically injured nine people and hurt more than a dozen others. It also left parts of Watford City in shambles, particularly the Prairie View RV Park that suffered the bulk of the damage. More than 200 homes were destroyed and many families were displaced by the EF2 tornado, many of them RVs or trailers lived in
Recovery efforts have been underway since then, and the community has risen to the challenge of caring for those affected.
The Roundup spoke with Karolin Jappe, the McKenzie County Emergency Planner,
recovery process and how the efforts to help the unfortu-nate turned out. According to Jappe, all those who were ad-versely affected by the tornado and who requested assis-tance have now received the
financial assistance offered them. She also spoke well of the generosity of those who helped in the time of need.
Jappe told The Roundup, “Everybody got what they needed. In the end we got from all over the state and also Montana, close to 270

role in the disbursement of funds, Jappe explained, “All I did was get the money from the bank and have them write one check to the North Da-kota Community Foundation because I want everything as transparent as can be.”
For Jappe, it was import-ant that others be involved in the process of fund disburse-
suited and so she can focus on other tasks.
Jappe added, “What hap-pens is the local Lutheran Social Services gets together
which are some ladies and pastors from Watford City, and they have to do a case man-agement thing and determine who gets the money. They do case management with Lutheran Social Services be-
to do case management.”She continued, “After
about a month, I got to each of the banks and asked them to write a check to the foun-dation, which in turn has Lu-theran Social Services write a grant as a part of the protocol
the checks and got them to the people.”
Many people in the com-munity have remarked how impressed they are with the generosity of all those who supported the tornado victims.
pretty well over, we think we got everybody taken care of and the community was very generous.”

Legislative ReportBy Steve Hinebauch Greetings from Helena. The bills are starting to
pick up and make their way through the committees. So we are seeing more and more
bills have been clean up bills and nothing very controversial. But there are some good bills coming, some controversial bills coming and some real wild bills coming.
that would concern our area are LC1830 and LC1831 which would outlaw com-petitive hunts for predatory animals (coyotes and fox) and make it illegal to hit a preda-tory animal with a vehicle. One bill that we killed this week inJudiciary Committee was SB95. This bill would have made itso that if someone thought there could be domestic violence in the home, law enforcement could come take the guns away without due process. Some of the good bills concern parentaland personal rights regarding immunizations.
Livestock and Irrigation Committee this week. SB73 is an agency bill that makes it easier for commodity buyers to bond. SB137 allows agriculture producers to pay for fuel by any means and still qualify for the gas tax refund.
On Wednesday there were a handful of people outside the Capitol protesting Global Warming during a snow storm. It
came from around the state to support School Choice. Some of
Bill Mercer, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie
representatives from Senator Steve Daines and Congressman Greg Gianforte and nationally known speaker, Leslie Hiner, VP of EdChoice.
I visited with a few folks from back home. If you come to the Capitol be sure and look me up.
I look forward to hearing from you regarding your questions or concerns. You can contact me by phone 406-989-1372, bye-mail [email protected], or by regular mail Senator Hinebauch, Capitol Building, PO Box 200500, Helena, MT 59620-0500
