Photography Tour to Sifnos Walk in the footsteps of Cartier-Bresson, on the majestic Greek island of Sifnos Inspiring Cartier-Bresson’s most famous images of all time, the small majestic island of Sifnos in the Cyclades offers timeless beauty, with distinctive white architecture, narrow atmospheric streets and revealing secret treasures at every turn, which lead to a network of interlocking sunlight reflections and shadows which create incredible geometric shapes sure to entice any photographer. Well known for the world famous photograph of Flora running home up the narrow steps, it is easy to see why Cartier-Bresson loved this island so much. The tour aims to uncover the fascinating secrets that he discovered all those years ago. Based in the town of Anthousa, the tour will explore some real gems in suburb locations dispersed around this small majestic island. Tour tutor Peter Hendrie has worked alongside Charlie Waite, who has followed Cartier-Bresson’s style of photography for many years, so has a vast knowledge base in which to identify the erections and elements that Cartier-Bresson was consequently famous for. These remarkable locations offer neutral tones alongside shapes made with natural light and reflections. Peter inspires photographers to produce effective black and white images and to use the discipline needed to truly capture the essence of this majestic island. Peter has lived and worked in and around North Devon and Exmoor all his life. Peter started his personal his journey serving an apprenticeship at Appledore shipyard as a shipwright, Peter decided to change his career when he moved to the heart of Exmoor Nation Park in 1988, where if began to pursue his passion for photography. Attending seven Light & Land tours as a photographer, the first being with Charlie Waite on a trip to Andulacia in 1988, where he started to develop his style. Peter’s love of Exmoor is shown through images featured in several

majestic island of Sifnos in the Cyclades offers timeless beauty,

with distinctive white architecture, narrow atmospheric streets and

revealing secret treasures at every turn, which lead to a network

incredible geometric shapes sure to entice any photographer.

This tour is expected to be very popular this year. Offering a truly

stunning island teamed with a world-renowned photographer that

takes this tour to new and exciting heights. The island itself is easily

accessible, however transport to the island is not included in the

tour. Advice on travel will be provided with the tour information.

This Sifnos photography tour follows in the footsteps of Cartier-

Bresson and runs from 06th April – 11th April 2016 and costs £1595,

which includes a £300 deposit.
