+ DOXOLOGY Praise God from whom all blessings flow;Praise God all creatures here below; Praise God above, ye heavenly host;Creator, Christ and Holy Ghost. Amen.

+ PRESENTATION & DEDICATION OF GIFTS Lindy Purdy Leader: Please remain standing and join voices for the dedication of gifts.

All: O God, we dedicate these offerings to your work. Through these gifts, may we be open to your Spirit moving through us, to serve in ways we may not have planned, to celebrate joys we did not anticipate, and to aid with needs we could not foresee. Amen.

SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION COMMUNION HYMN

Let Us Break Bread Together Blue #288Let us break bread together on our knees; Let us break bread together on our knees. When I fall on my knees, with my face to the rising sun, O Lord, have mercy on me.

INVITATION & WORDS OF INSTITUTION We practice open communion. All are welcome at the table, which has been set for us by Christ. Let us prepare to receive the joyful feast of the people of God.

COMMUNION MUSIC Kraig Windschitl Let Us Break Bread Together Dale Wood

SHARING OF THE ELEMENTS After the Deacons have been served, ushers will invite each row to come to one of the communion stations. Each person will receive the bread from the server and dip it into the chalice held by another server. An appropriate response to the server’s words is “Amen.” After receiv-ing communion, return to your seat by the side aisle. If you wish to be served where you are seated, indicate this to an usher and communion will be brought to you. A gluten-free bread option is available from the servers in the East Transept.

HYMN OF DEVOTION Our God, Our Help in Ages Past Blue #1

Our God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come,Our shelter from the stormy blast, and our eternal home.

Before the hills in order stood, or earth received her frame,From everlasting Thou art God, to endless years the same.

PASTORAL PRAYER & THE LORD’S PRAYER Lindy Purdy Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is inheaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not intotemptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

SCRIPTURE Matthew 23:29-32, 37-39 Alice Kullman Leader: Hear what the Spirit is saying to the church. All: Thanks be to God!

SERMON False Memories Ron Troxel

OFFERTORY ANTHEM Chancel Choir Let Peace then Still the Strife Mack Wilberg

THE GATHERING OF GOD’S PEOPLEThe whole assembly proclaims the Word by gathering for

worship. Our gathering witnesses to neighbors, friends, and family that we live by rooted and radical allegiance

to the One who created, redeemed, and sustains us.

THE GREAT THANKSGIVINGAll things come from God. With praise and thanksgiving

we return to God that which has been shared. The entirety of worship, draws us into communion with Jesus.

We give thanks for this time of unity.

THE WORD FOR THE DAYThe Word is always “Good News.” Jesus encounters us,and is truly present, in the proclamation of the Word.

Through spoken word and by participating in the liturgy, our congregation proclaims the Word of God.

+ OPENING HYMN My Country ‘Tis of Thee Blue #437

My country ‘tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing;Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrims’ pride, From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

My native country thee, land of the noble free, thy name I love;I love thy rocks and rills, thy woods and templed hills; My heart with rapture thrills, like that above.

Let music swell the breeze, and ring from all the trees, sweet freedom’s song;Let mortal tongues awake; let all that breathe partake; Let rocks their silence break; the song prolong.

Our father’s God, to Thee, Author of liberty, to Thee we sing;Long may our land be bright, with freedom’s holy light; Protect us by Thy might, Great God, our King.

+ RESPONSIVE PRAYER Rustin Comer Leader: God, we are a harried people.

All: We live with the demands of others: employers, friends, parents, spouses.Leader: We come to worship aware of what we must do when we leave, All: And what tomorrow will require of us. Leader: Consequently, we are also a forgetful people, All: Consumed by the urgent, we forget justice, kindness, and walking humbly with You.Leader: Restore us to our right minds, All: Renew us from within, that we might remember. Amen.
