Ifyou're thinking of changingfrom towels to tampons, thinkofLil-lets first.Because as well as protectingyou better than towels, Lil-Iets havea unique way'of working that makesthem ideal for first-time users.Quite simply, once it's inserteda Lil-Iets tampon blossoms outwidthways ina cont ro l l edway to giveyou perfect protection-so there'sno risk of embarrassment.Yet-and this is the bigdifference between Lil-lets andother tampons-while this protectivewidthways expansion is takingplace, there's no l e n g t h w a y s expansion.Because a tampon that extendslengthways can cause discomfort. So that's the unique benefitofLil-lets: complete protection inperfect comfort. And that's whatmakes them the natural first-timechoice for so many girls today.

LIVING on your own in abed-sitter isn't bad. Not onceyou get used to it. I've beenin my pad a couple of weeksnow. I've got to get used to alot of new night sounds. There's the creaking floorboardoutside my room that wakesme up rigid with fright. I'mconvinced it's the landlady'sbrother, Count Dracula, coming to get me. There's awire that taps a~ainst thewindow when it s windy, likesomebody wanting to come in.But each time, just beforeI die of fright, I tell myselfthere's a logical explanationfor each sound.Or I did until I heardsomeone in my wardrobe. It's a pretty eery feelingto wake up after midnightand know there's someone inyour wardrobe. The firstthought that struck me wasthat the accommodationproblem in London had gotso bad that my landlady hadlet off my wardrobe to somehomeless person withouttelling me about it. I decided

You can be Noddy, I'llbe Mr Plodd ...VALLI: To Alice Cooper: Asyou're :really such a nice guy, whydid you have to bother with allthose snakes and 'orrible make-up?Come to that, why do I bother

to complain to the landladyfU'st thing in the morning. But then whoever was inmy wardrobe made astrange little noise and itwas a girl's voice..I decidednot to complain after all.By then Iwas just aboutwide awake and Iealisedthat the chances of finding aTeal girl in my wardrobewere about nil. Therefore, itwas a ghost. Trust me to getthe only haunted wardrobein Britain.I stopped being quite so

last winter. But apartthat, the wardrobe containeonly some moths and a fewbits and pieces which Ilaughingly pass off asclothes. Strange1y though,I could still hear the cryingIt struck me then that thcrying came from the nextroom. So I went next doorand tapped on the weepylady's door. She wasn't keento let me in but she did toavoid having me hammerher door down and maybewake the landlady up. Shedidn't tell anyone who it was who hadtaken the watch - just returned itto the girl saying it had been found. She gave me such a talking to tho'that I'll never do anything like itagain. And when Ithink back now, Ijust don't know why Iever did it inthe first place ... "

SALLY SAYS: The temptation tosteal is something that hits aU O f usat sometime in our lives - a thoughtwhich most of us manage to fight.

'I WasSoAshamed,'Most oj us have donesomething we were ashamedof and bitterly regrettedafterwards. (Go an, have athink, I'm sure at sometimeor another you've said toyourself, "On, if only Ihadn'tdone . . .") Sally talked tothree Pink readers who facedthis problem, and this iswhat they had to say . . .Luckily. Liuie was found out beforethings reaUy got out of hand. But ifever you are tempted to takesomething that isn't yours, just stopand think how you'd feel if someonew as steating YOUR things.SARAH: "Cath and I have been bestfriends ever since we were little kidsbut when Itarted dating herboyfriend Ielt a real traitor."I COUldn'ttell her I was gOing outwith him either, 'cos if I had she'dhave hated me. She was so upset, Yousee, when he broke it off with her."I felt really awful, because ithappened while she was away onholiday. She got back - and Phil(that's his name) just told her it wasall over, and he was going out withsomeone else, tho' he never said who."Cath told me all about it and I feltsuch a heel, 'cos all the time 1 knew itwas me making her so unhappy.

Everybody Needs 'Em ...What are friends for? Whatare friends? What is life? Why are we here? Are wehere? (Enough of thisphilosophical claptrap, geton with it you fool! - Ed.)Anyway, back to myoriginal theme - friends.I've had quite a few in mytime, well, two actually ifI'm going to be truthful -and why not, it's summer -and Idon't see either ofthem now.Of course, I've got Kim.She's a friend, Iuppose. Itdepends how you define theword "friend". If a friend issomeone who tells you whenyou come in to the officethat you look like Kung-FuCain tramping through the

desert, then Kim's a friend. If a friend is a person whosays, "Hoi, the kettle'sboiling!" when you burstinto joyful song, then Kimsa friend. She also tells methat mY latest love looksexactly like the bloke whowas trying to chat her up inthe lift last week and that'swhat 1call really friendly.Well, what IsaY to myself,in true philosophical fashion,is , ' 'Who needs measleswhen you've got friends likeKim?"Come to that. who needsfriends. Iamthinking," Isaid (Kim, Jillyand Sally fall to the floor, frothing at the mouth). "I'mthinking what fools we'vebeen to put up with this forso long. Why should Lindaand Valli rush off fortwo-hour lunch hours whilewe man the 'phones, keepthe tea-lady at bay andperhaps pop out for a packetof Smarties?""Because they're biggerthan us," Sally saidtruthfully.Anyway, to cut a longstory short, I've decided toform the Pink Panthers - arevolutionary undergroundmovement which will wipeout two-hour lunch hours, introduce an Ansatoneservice and increase theSmartie ration.Y'see, Kim, Sally and I are"trainees" - or dogs-bodies- we do the things thatnobody else wants to do.Jilly just hangs around withus because she thinks itmakes her look youthful, butshe's not really foolinganybody. But now we've hadenough, Pink Panthers ofthe world unite, you havenothing to lose but yourlu nc h-h ou rs ... and yourSmarties ... and your free, hone calls ... and your
