12120Injecto-Flo® Piston Distributor System Components
Injecto-Flo Piston Distributor Systems utilize one of three
types of pumps: A single-stroke hand-operated pump; a
single-stroke, air-operated pump: or a continuous flow,
electric motor driven pump. Pump output is delivered to
piston distributors which dispense precise amounts of
lubricating oil to the bearing points. Air-operated pumps
require a solenoid-operated air valve and controller to
activate the pump. Electric motor driven pumps use an
electric motor and built in, or remote timer device to activate
the pump. The Piston Distributors are mounted in manifolds
supplied by Lubriquip. The bearing point type mount at the
bearing point and require no manifold. Various accessories
are available to simplify installation. An optional pressure
switch or gauge may be added at the pump outlet port, if
desired, to monitor pump operation.
SYSTEM COMPONENTS
PumpsPositive displacement, hand-operated pumps, air-operated
pumps and electric motor driven pumps are available with
metal or plastic reservoirs allowing a system to be designed
precisely for the application needs.
Timer
The Solid-state timer can be set to control pump run duration
and to initiate lube cycles at intervals from 30 seconds to 32
hours. Other optional controllers schedule lube intervals on
time, or machine usage. The LC-1000, can control and
monitor pump run duration based on input from a pressure
switch.
Manifolds and Piston Distributors
One manifold can distribute lubricant to as many as 10 lube
points. Piston Distributors come in seven outputs to meet
various lube requirements. Bearing point piston distributors
are fed directly from the pump through individual branch lines
and do not require a manifold.
Tubing, Hardware, Fittings and
Accessories
Injecto-Flo Piston Distributor Systems utilize metric tubing
(metal or nylon) and brass fittings. Adapters are available to
allow the use of inch size tubing where preferred.
FEATURES/BENEFITS
Injecto-Flo Piston Distributors offer an efficient method of
applying lubricant, resulting in less machine downtime,
increased productivity, and a safer work environment.
Injecto-Flo Systems go beyond these advantages to provide:
 Easy system design and modification.
 Inexpensive components and installation.
 Fast payback! Savings in lube maintenance;
man-hours usually pay for the system within the first year.
Steel reservoir available for heavy-duty use.
Pump construction internally vents system pressure,
requiring no extra cost external vent valves.
Hand, air and electric powered pumps available with
several reservoir sizes to fit a wide variety of applications.
Motors and low level switches meet EEC requirements
(CE mark compliance).
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The Injecto-Flo Piston Distributor System is a single-line,
parallel type. When the solid-state timer, controller, or
operator activates the pump, lubricant is forced down a
single main line to manifolds, and from there through
individual piston distributors and lines to the lube points.
If bearing point piston distributors are used, manifolds are
not required. Instead, the single main line branches into
individual lines feeding the bearing point piston distributors.
In both cases, the piston distributors dispense lubricant to a
bearing. Once lubricant is dispensed at the lube points,
system pressure is vented by the pump. This allows the
piston distributors to prime themselves in preparation for the
next lubrication cycle.
INTRODUCTION
Page 2
Injecto-Flo® Piston Distributor System Components 12120
SYSTEM OPERATION
As shown in Figure 1, when the operator actuates the
handle, or when the solenoid-operated air valve, or electric
motor receives a signal from the timer, the pump is activated.
The pump dispenses lubricant either into the mainline tubing
which distributes the lubricant to the manifolds, feeding each
piston distributor or lines supplying bearing point piston
distributors. Each of the piston distributors is sized to
measure and dispense the proper amount of lubricant based
on the requirements of the bearing. Details of the operation
of each component are included in this bulletin.
InterchangeabilityTrabon components are functionally interchangeable with
other commonly used single-line, parallel piston distributor
systems. Mounting dimensions of the components are very
close to those of other systems, and for some components
there is a direct interchangeability in form and fit as well as
function.
ApplicationsTrabon Piston Distributor Systems are ideal for small to large
machine tools and other equipment requiring economical,
intermittent, oil lubrication.

HAND-OPERATED PUMP (HO-1)
DESCRIPTION / OPERATION
The HO-1 hand pump (Figure 2) is a positive displacement,
single stroke pump that delivers up to 13cc (.80 in.3) against
a maximum system pressure of 30 bar (435 psi). As the
handle is pulled back, a return spring is compressed and
pump flow is delivered to the system mainline. As mainline
pressure builds, the individual piston distributors dispense a
measured volume of lubricant to the bearing points. When
the handle return to the rest position, the pump piston moves
back to the prime position. Simultaneously, mainline
pressure is vented allowing the piston distributors to re-prime
in preparation for the next lube cycle.

AIR-OPERATED PUMPS (AO-1)
DESCRIPTION / OPERATION
Operation of the pump is controlled by a remote mounted 3-way
air solenoid valve. Activating this valve allows filtered regulated,
lubricated air to move both the power piston and the lubricant
piston. The resulting lubricant flow pressurizes the system
mainlines causing the piston distributors to dispense a mea-
sured volume of lubricant to the bearing points. De-energizing
the solenoid valve allows air pressure on the power piston to be
exhausted which permits the piston return spring to move both
the power piston and lubricant pistons back to the prime
position. The built in vent valve is simultaneously released
which vents mainline lubricant pressure allowing the piston
distributors to re-prime for the next cycle.

ELECTRIC MOTOR PUMPS (EO-1)
DESCRIPTION/OPERATION
EO-1 lube packages (Figure 6) consist of a 115 or 230 volt
AC motor direct coupled to a gear pump and mounted on a
steel or plastic reservoir. All are equipped with a low level
switch as standard and are rated for service up to 40 bar
(580 psi) . When electrical power is applied to the pump
motor, lubricant flow pressurizes the system mainlines
causing the piston distributors to dispense a measured
volume of lubricant to the bearing points. De-energizing the
pump stops flow and allows the internal vent valve to release
mainline pressure. This allows the piston distributors to re-
prime in preparation for the next lube cycle. On/off cycles
are achieved using a remote timer that has user selectable
off and on times or control can be via the machine PLC
where available and desired.

ELECTRIC MOTOR PUMPS (E0-3)
DESCRIPTION / OPERATION
EO-3 lube packages included a 115 or 230 VAC motor direct
coupled to a gear pump and mounted on a 3 liters(.8 Gal.)
plastic reservoir. Each is equipped with a low level switch as
standard and is rated for service up to 24 bar (350 psi) .
Timer equipped models include a built in pressure switch.
On/off cycles on remote control models are scheduled by a
remote timer or control can be via the machine PLC where
available and desired. When electrical power is applied to
the pump motor, lubricant flow pressurizes the system
mainlines causing the piston distributors to dispense a
measured volume of lubricant to the bearing points. Making
of the pressure switch contacts (pressure switch equipped
models) or expiration of the on time causes power to be
withdrawn from the motor. This stops flow and permits the
internal vent valve to release mainline pressure which allows
the piston distributors to re-prime in preparation for the next
lube cycle.

PISTON DISTRIBUTORS
DESCRIPTION / OPERATIONInjecto-Flo Piston Distributors provide accurate piston
metering of oil directly to a lubrication point. They cover an
output range of .03cc - .60cc (.002 - .037 cu.in.) and are
available as individual distributors (320 and 350 series or as
a unitized distributor manifold (340 series).
Injecto-Flo Piston Distributors are assembled into compact
manifolds having 1 to 10 outlets. While piston distributors
are tamper- resistant, the amount of lubricant delivered to a
given point may be varied by changing the displacement
adapter, or the individual piston distributor.
Manifold inlets and piston distributor outlets are ported for
metric fittings and tubing. Metric to inch size adapters and
fittings are available for users who prefer to use inch size
piping (see fitting section.)
Points may be added to the system by installing additional
manifolds and piston distributors, or removed from the
system by plugging the outlet ports that are no longer
required.
Metering pistons are spring loaded, opposing inlet (main
line) pressure. When inlet pressure (provided by the central
pump) reaches 12 bar (175 psi) or 9 bar (130 psi) for PD340
series, the spring is overcome and the piston is forced into
the discharge chamber, displacing oil taken in at the end of
the previous cycle. When the pump is de-energized, inlet
main line pressure drops, oil bleeds back to tank through the
pump vent valve, and the spring-loaded pistons reset which
primes the discharge chambers for the next lube cycle.

PD370 bearing point piston distributors are available as
individual units in straight, 900 or 1800 configurations. They
are mounted at the point of application which means that all
connected lines are on the supply side (mainline) of the
system. This allows monitoring for broken lines via a pump,
or in line mounted pressure switch.

PD380 POST FIRE PISTON DISTRIBUTORS
DESCRIPTION / OPERATION
PD-380 post fire piston distributors are a pressure prime,
spring discharge type making them ideal for applications
such as pallets where the main supply line can only be
connected during a short machining cycle after which the
pallet advances to the next station.
They are available with 1 to 6 outputs covering an output
range of .05cc — .8cc (.003 — .049 cu.in.). Individual
outputs can be changed by replacing the output screw with
one of a different length.
Metering pistons are spring loaded opposing inlet (mainline)
pressure. When inlet pressure (provided by the central
pump) reaches 16 bar (232 psi), the spring is overcome and
the metering piston is forced against its stop (output screw)
by the inlet side oil pressure,. When main line pressure is
vented at the pump, the metering piston is advanced to its
rest position by the expanding return spring and a measured
shot of oil is directed out of the outlet.

Solid-State A-C Timer
DESCRIPTION / OPERATION
The Solid-State Timer from Lubriquip operates on stan-
dard 115/230 VAC 50/60 hz input power, and provides a
total on and off cycle with “on” periods to meet your
specific lubrication system’s requirements. Total cycle
times can be set from 30 seconds to 32 hours. “On” time
during the total cycle time can be set from 12 seconds to
13 minutes. The “on” time occurs at the beginning of each
period.
The Solid-State Timer operates on common 115/230 VAC
50/60 hz input power. Output is also 115/230 VAC 50/60
hz, which is directed to power the pump, or to trigger a
solenoid that activates a pneumatic pump. User sets
desired total cycle time and “on” time. The timer will
provide output power for as long as the time set on the
“on” cycle. Manual run circuit resets timer to the beginning
of a total cycle.

SC-Solid State Stroke Counter
DESCRIPTION / OPERATION
The Trabon Stroke Counter programs the operation of a
lubrication system using machine cycles or strokes rather
than time. It energizes a load that initiates the lubrication
system each time the machine cycles through the number of
strokes preset on the stroke setting dial. It is a low cost
control especially suited to equipment which operates on a
variable duty cycle.
Set the Stroke Counter to provide the amount of lubrication
required by the operating equipment using the Stroke Setting
switch. This is a ten-position switch which covers the range
of 32 to 320 machine strokes in 32 stroke increments. It is
the only adjustment needed.
When the equipment is started the pre-lube feature automati-
cally energizes the load for five seconds causing lubricant to
be pumped. At the end of this time, the Stroke Counter
begins counting cycles through an external stroke switch
actuated by the operating machine. When the counter
reaches the number of strokes preset on the selector switch
it energizes the load. During the five second lubricating time,
the counter resets to zero. It begins counting strokes again
after the load is de-energized.
Pressing the Manual Run push-button or selecting a different
stroke setting actuates the pre-lube feature and resets the
counter to zero.
If power is interrupted, the accumulated stroke count is lost.
Restoration of power automatically actuates the pre-lube
feature and resets the counter to zero.

PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS
DISPLAYS:The LC-1000 Controller has icons in the display to indicate if
the unit is in a lube ON cycle or OFF cycle and to show the
timing mode. They are also used to indicate which counter
is being adjusted when programming new parameters. The
LCD four digit display is used to show the remaining time left
in either an on or off cycle, as indicated by the icons. Timing
can be done in seconds, minutes, hours or counts. A
flashing LCD character indicates that the timer is in the
Programming mode.
PUSH BUTTONS:There are four push buttons;
PRGM - Program, alternate between setting OFF, ON
(Monitor), Cycle Count, or Pump Duty Cycle (Pulsed
Pump On)
- Increase digit
- Next digit select
ENT - Enter (save) new setting
OPERATION:When power is applied, the timer counts down alternately
from the programmed ON/OFF times to zero. In the ON
TIME mode, the RUN is activated and the ON icon lights.
The digital display counts down the remaining time/counts in
the monitor interval. If the display reaches 0000 before the
pressure switch closes (cycle count). A fault will be regis-
tered indicating that system main line pressure was not
sufficient for reliable Piston Distributor operation. If the
pressure switch closes before expiration of the monitor (ON)
interval, the LC-1000 reverts to the OFF interval and the
display counts down to the next lube period.
The Controller is programmed to retain in memory the timecount when power is turned off. This feature preventsoverlube in start/stop applications and retains information forcycle to be completed when power is returned.

start to blink indicating the change mode. Pressing the
PRGM again will light the OFF icon and display the existing
OFF time. Pressing PRGM a third time will light the CYCLE
icon. Pressing PRGM a fourth time will light the PUMP icon.
Pressing the PRGM a fifth time will return the unit back to the
DISPLAY mode, showing the current status of the timer. No
icons or digits will be blinking in the DISPLAY mode.
To set a new monitor interval ("ON" time). Press the "PRGM"
key until the "ON" icon begins to blink. The existing ON time/
count will be displayed. Press the "ENT" key. The ON time/
count value will blink. Using the key and key set the
monitor ("ON") value between 10 and 20. Press "ENT" to
register the new value. The SEC/MIN/HR/CNT icon will now
blink. Press the key to scroll through the timing choices
and select "SEC". Press "ENT" to register the new time
base. The "OFF" icon will now be blinking. Press "ENT", the

will now blink. Press the key to scroll through the timing
choices and select the desired unit. Press "ENT" to register
the new time base. The "CYCLE" icon will now be blinking.
Press "ENT" and the CYCLE VALUE will blink. Use the
key and key to select 01. Press "ENT" to register the new
value. The "PUMP" icon will now be blinking. Press "ENT"
and the "PUMP" (pulsed on time) will blink. This feature is
not used with Piston Distributors. Use key and key to
select 00. Press "ENT" to register the value and return to the
DISPLAY mode. Programming is now completed.
Note: Scrolling through the modes using the PRGM key only
will allow the review of the current settings without changing
any of the values or timing. Exiting after changing a value
will initiate a Manual Run as the new values will take effect.
MANUAL RUN:A manual run cycle may be initiated from the normal Display
Mode by pressing the manual run push button, or both the
and the ENT buttons together. After changing the timer
settings, a manual run initiated will make the new values
active and reset a fault momentarily, closing contacts 5 and 6
