Getting StartedIntroduction The Packaging Shape Database was generated to support rapid visual identification of a Package Shape throughcombined attribute filtering. It also collects Key Characteristic about each Shape that will help maintain BrandIntent, IP Protection and Technology Ownership. Each Shape has a unique Shape ID which correlates withthe Packaging Database. The common Shape ID will assist with specifying the target Shape to be designed inany given Design Request. Collected data such as Anaqua Patent and Trademark Record IDs will help directusers to legal documents related to target Shapes and give insight as to how and where the current PackageShape is protected.

Installation This database was created using Microsoft Access 2000 format. To get started, the user must first have MS Access 2000 or higher installed on their computer. Once the existence of MS Access has been established thefollowing steps can be initiated:

1.  Create a folder to house the Package Shape Database and documents. (This folder may be relocated at any

time as long as its contents remain together) 2.  Extract the Database and Related Documents to the folder just created by double clicking the

executable file “PkgShapeDB_ [v#r#] .exe” and specifying the destination folder when prompted.3.  Once installation has finished you may remove the “PkgShapeDB_ [v#r#] .exe” and “ShapeDB-

Manual_v#r#.doc” from your computer because they are no longer needed. You can find theuser manual located in the install directory under the “/User Manual Doc” folder.

Execution To begin using the Package Shape DB proceed with the following steps:

1.  Locate”PkgShapeDB_[CurrentVersion].mdb database file.

2.  Open the DB file by double clicking on the file or by starting MS Access and using “File” “Open” menu to open the target DB file.

 Application Windows and FieldsMain Application

The main MS Access application “Package Shape Database” consists of two windows. They are the“Shape Filtering & Retrieval Form” and the “Shape Report”. The Shape Filtering & Retrieval Form” isused to filter the “Shape Report” down to a target few shapes. Then key attributes can be obtained from theShape ID or used to identify a specific shape in the Packaging Database.

Shape Filtering & Retrieval Form

The “Shape Filtering & Retrieval Form” consist of two sections. The top section with (11) attribute fieldsfor filtering the selection down to a few target shapes. This section also allows for the options to exclude all“Concept” type packages from the selection. Once the filters have been set the use can “Apply” the filters tothe Shape Report or “Clear” the current filter settings and reset the report to zero filters.

The first (4) fields pertaining to business related criteria described as follows:

•  Material = is used to identify target material (Glass, Metal or Plastic)

•  Brand = is used to identify shapes by target Brand.

•  Product Catagory = is used to identify shapes by the Product in which is used with (Consentrate,

CSD, Dairy, Energy, Isotonic, Juice, Tea or Water)

•  Performance  Category = is used to identify shapes by the Performance in which the package is

capable maintaining like (High Pressure, Low Pressure, Non Pressure or Vacuum)

The next (7) fields are related to the package shape features described as follows:

•  Neck = is used to identify the shape just below the finish and above the shoulder geometry.

•  Shoulder = is used to identify the shape of the transition between the Neck and the Body

•  Body = is used to identify the overall profile of the package between the Neck and the Base.

•  Grip = is used to identify the location or shape of the grip within the package

• Label = is used to identify the type of label in which is used with package.

•  Label Location = is used to identify the location of the label.

•  Graphics = is used to identify any graphical markings that the package consist of.

The Middle section of the “Shape Filtering & Retrieval Form” consist of (2) options to retrieve addition dataabout a specific Shape. Once a Shape has been identified, the “Shape ID” number can be typed in the “Enter Target Shape ID before Button Selection” box. If the Target Shape from which the Shape ID was takenspecifies a in the “SG” box (as referenced in the section), the following actions are available:

•  Select “Retrieve Shape Details” button which will open the following “Detailed Shape Report” that contains the specific filter setting regard the shape. Also available are Key Attributes of the shape

like Record ID numbers related to Patent and Trademark documentation found in the Anaquadatabase as well as representation of alternative variation of the shape like Logos or artwork.

The “Shape Report”. contains the following key items of interest:

•  The “Shape ID” which ties all related data together collected from multiple databases and workflows. It ties the Visual identity and Common Name to related databases from Patent & Trademark documentation to Specific detailed drawings and Shape & Technology ownership.

•   The shadow boxed text represents the Common Name given to the shape that may be the initialproject name but is not to include the Brand in the name.

•   The “SG” or Shape Guideline check box indicates if the existence of Shape Guideline drawing isavailable. If  is present then a Shape Guideline document is available.

•   The “SV” or Shape Variation check box indicates if the existences of Shape Variations are available. If  is present then a Shape Variation(s) are available.

Window Locations, Manipulation, Sizing and Printing For optimum access to reported shapes. Layout all windows like the following image:

•  Maximize the MS Access application window.

•  Locate the “Shape Filtering & Retrieval Form” to the left side of the application window.

•  Locate the “Shape Report” to the right of the “Shape Filtering & Retrieval Form” and stretch thecorners to consume the rest of the application window. Note: If you chose to maximize the “Shape

Report” window, you will find that the “Shape Filtering & Retrieval Form” will cover some of theresulting shapes.

Use the following Print Preview Tools to size the “Shape Report” images to improve the view ability of theindividual Shape details.

In the lower left corner of the Shape Report Window is the page manipulator. Use this to move betweenmultiple pages of images. If all arrows are unselectable then only one page exists. Note: There is slight delaysbetween initial viewing of images of each page. Once a page has been view alternative viewings will be quicker.

When all filtering has been processed and target shapes have been identified. Use the following Print button toprint the active report.
