Plan 1 - Year 2 School Closure Home learning Work for Monday 6 th July – Friday 10 th July These are suggested activities that will support your children’s learning through these difficult times. We recognise that all children work differently and we have tried to pitch the activities accordingly, however we do understand that some children might need some extra support/challenge; where appropriate we have given alternative activities. Year 2 are able to return to school on a rota system, they will have two days in school and three days home learning. I will endeavour to make sure every child gets the same experience regardless of group. I have split the planning accordingly to reflect this. Reading: Daily reading. Write a list of questions for a famous explorer you have learnt about this half term. What would you like to ask them? What do you wonder about their journeys? You could write your questions in the form of a letter.

Our new topic this half term is ‘Global Explorers’ choose a project to complete:

Experiment with texture Lets create art in the style of Britta Teckentrup who illustrated Neon Leon.

Using paintbrushes, sponges or anything else you can find, apply paint onto paper. What textures can you make?

Leave these sheets to dry. Cut shapes out of them and arrange them to make your artwork.

What makes you stand out l ike Neon Leon? Neon Leon stands out from the crowd! Everyone is different and special in their own way and that’s amazing. At the end of the story, Leon finds a place where he fits in and can be himself. Using the sheet on the blog, draw and write what makes you special.
