Project Planning & Preparation Phase
The Project Planning & Preparation phase includes such tasks as
ensuring the hardware and product are available for the new installation,
defining the project plan, holding the kick-off meeting, and defining the
timeline and schedules.

A critical task under Pre-migrations steps is the
extraction of production data in preparation for the
first pass. During this step in the phase, the
Customer site is down where no new data can be
entered until the extraction is complete.

Installation and First Pass
Technical and Functional Steps:
Includes both Technical and Functional Steps that are
completed by the consultant throughout the First Pass
process.
Many of the tasks are technical in nature and are part of the
installation of the program, ensuring patches are updated,
and modifying the existing data in the current version in
preparation for upgrading.
Specific Financial, Distribution, and Manufacturing steps
must be completed within the program for a successful
upgrade.

Customizations and Product Add ons:
Includes tasks associated with upgrading any customizations
to the software as any custom reports, workflows, or
requestors that need to be part of the upgrade.
Customizations are listed and tracked using the Upgrade
Customization List.
The installation, configuration, and migration of 3rd party
applications must be addressed as part of this phase. This is
completed in conjunction with the Installation and First Pass
phase, and must be completed before the Dry Run phase.

Customer Training and Setup:
The Training and Setup phase contains tasks associated with providing the
customer with training on the changes between their current version and the new
version along with specific setup requirements that must be completed in the new
version after the installation is completed.
If the customer has purchased any new add-ons as part of the upgrade, training
for those add-ons will also take place at this time.

Installation and First Pass
Testing Test scripts are prepared for testing customizations, and upgraded
data.
The Unit Testing phase is specific to testing customizations as well
as any custom reports.
It is important that these customizations be tested to ensure they
are functioning correctly and displaying the correct information.
Key User Test the data upgraded to the new version as part of the
First Pass. This includes ensuring access is granted to the
appropriate users and the TEST folder as well as developing
specific scripts for testing critical areas.
The first milestone is reached on Configuration and Testing
Phase Sign-off.

Dry Run Phase
The Dry Run Phase includes end user customer training, pre and
post-cutover tasks, specific activities such as creating the Vx Dry
Run folder, and testing on the newly created Dry Run folder.
The Dry Run Activities includes the creation of the Vx Dry Run
folder, the import of production data, folder validation and error
correction, copying of data to a DRYRUNVx folder, and the
completion of post-cutover tasks.
Prior to the sign-off of the Dry Run phase, a readiness assessment
will be completed to ensure all steps or the Dry Run phase have
been completed, issues have been discussed and resolutions
found, and testing is completed.

The Go Live Preparation Activities task includes a preparation
meeting, completing pre-cutover tasks, and a final extraction of
production data and upgrade.

Technical and Functional carried out for the Dry Run phase will be executed during the
Go Live phase as well.
Once all of the Go Live Activities tasks are completed, the customer is ready to use
Sage ERP X3 Vx as their new production environment.
The Go Live Activities task includes the creation of the Vx Production folder, the import of
production data, folder validation and error correction, copying of data setup from DRYRUNVx
folder to Production folder, and the completion of post-cutover tasks.
