Stadiums, arenas, music halls, theaters; these are the venues that build hopes and dreams in children and provide entertainment and excitement for adults. Today’s venues provide more than a place to see a sporting event or a musical concert; they provide a complete experience. Entertainment fa-cilities differentiate themselves by offering unique design, interactive elements, and food and bever-age options that are specific to the location and characteristic of the venue.

There are many ways to approach food facility design in sports and entertainment venues. William Caruso & Associates (WC&A) designs for various scales of food service; from traditional concession stands, to larger spaces and designs that are unique to a specific facility. We work with our clients to understand the vision they have for their venue and the experience they would like to provide for their patrons.

Overview Our ApproachWC&A’s sports and entertainment projects are differentiated among all other endeavors. The sheer size and scope of our experience in this area dwarfs other project types. These projects often have exacting time limitations requiring accelerated scheduling; this produces high-pressure deadlines and the need for extra manpower. WC&A has both the knowledge and experience to deliver high-quality work in a timely fashion under pressing circumstances. We utilize our very experienced sports and entertainment staff, who understand all facets of the industry and can quickly and efficient-ly work with our clients, architectural teams, and engineers in a professional manner. These jobs are fee sensitive with little room for additional services so “getting it right” the first time is essential to the successful completion of these projects!

WC&A has completed multiple phases of work over the years for this famous performing arts center located at Rockefeller Center in the heart of New York City. Projects included the crea-tion of a foodservice master plan and conceptual space planning to expand and centralize future food and beverage systems. WC&A also planned and designed a new state-of-the art food and beverage and merchandise kiosks operating in the main foyer, exterior building, and theatre itself (also included was renovation of historical furniture pieces into functional kiosk units).

First and Goal, Inc. selected WC&A as its food and beverage fa-cility planning and design consultant for a 69,000-seat NFL sta-dium in Seattle. The building is tied to a major exhibition center and parking garage which accommodates concurrent events. The stadium’s food and beverage system features dual commissaries, food courts, and up-scaled fixed concessions featuring local Pa-cific Northwest food and drink. There is also a high-quality club, in-seat dining, and specialty suite services.

WC&A was hired to plan and design all food and beverage facili-ties for this 12,500-seat arena venue set in the heart of this famed “PAC-12” Conference School’s campus. Our project team worked closely with the UO Athletic Department, its Foodservice Director, and the project architectural team to enhance a high-quality food-service program already in operation at MAC Court (the existing arena). A state-of-the-art program was developed offering guests high-quality food choices at reasonable prices.
