Maths

This week I would like you to focus on subtraction using numbers to 20.

Subtraction means to take away.

There is a selection of worksheets to complete which follow below. Use a number line or physical objects to help you find the answer to the questions.

If you are struggling to remember how to use a number line watch this video- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BLNxW2Ya5M

Please also carry on practising your number bonds to 10 and 20.

English

Listen to the story ‘The Queen's Knickers’ by Nicholas Allen. If you don’t have the book follow the link.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-wbxz8Drjw&t=213s

1. The story uses some interesting vocabulary. Do some research to find the meaning of the following words-

• Enormous • Trunk • Crisis • slightly • Knickers

2. Write a story about a day in the life of Dilys (who looks after the Queen's knickers).

3. Write a list of questions for the Police to ask to help them find the knickers.

Project

Have ago at doing some of the following activities.

• Art- Design your own pair of knickers. Can you turn

them into bunting?

• Science- The Queen has a pair of knickers that float.

What could these be made out of? Can you test

different materials to find out which ones float?

• History- Create a fact file on Queen Elizabeth II.

Where does she live? What is her job? Does she have

any pets?

• DT- Plan and host a royal tea party. • History- Look at pictures of royal clothing and

discuss with your family how they have changed

over the years.

• DT- Design and make a Father’s Day card.

Hello Year One, we hope that you are trying your best with your

learning at home. This week could you try the following…

RE- Hope

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and

peace in believing, so that by the power of the

Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

In our story the Queen is hoping that her knickers

will return!

What are you hoping to do over the summer

holidays?
