POINT POST 2016 --- ROUND 2 1 Editorial Another week of perfect footy weather! There are no games next week due to school holidays, with Round 3 being played on Sunday 24 th . Following last issue’s article on injury prevention, this issue has an article on injury management, kindly supplied by club sponsor Spectrum Healthcare. There’s also a note on the Joint Venture with the Canada Bay Cannons for the U15s and U17s this year. But before we start with the match reports, here’s the first trivia question for the year! Trivia Question We all know that the North Ryde Dockers play their home games at the ELS Hall ovals – but how did ELS Hall get its name? Was it: (a) Because it’s named after famous golfer Ernie Els? (b) Because it was originally the site of an Institute for Engineering, Law and Science, which was nicknamed ELS Hall? (c) Because Alderman E.L.S. Hall was a former mayor of the city of Ryde? (d) Because ELS stands for Eastwood Local Sports, with the grounds used for baseball, soccer, football and both codes of rugby in the past? Answer at the end of this issue! U9White It was a lovely sunny autumnmorning as the Under 9 Whitesplayed their first home game thisseasonagainsttheKellyvilleRouseHill Magpies U9 Camerons. Forthismatchwewere luckyenoughto have Jeremy from the U9Purplesstepintohelpout.The first quarter saw the teamcome out swinging with thecentres and forwards doing agreat job of keeping the ballmoving towards goal. The backsalsodidagreatjobinclearingtheballouttothecentreline. The coaching team are obviouslydoingagreatjobastheboyskepttheballmoving,hand-passingandkicking to their team mates, keeping that ball heading in therightdirection. There were some great markstaken as well as some strongtackles. By the start of the 4thQuartertheU9Whitesweredoingsowell thecoachesdecidedtositout Will, Jeremy and Aarish forpart of the quarter in order toevenouttheteams. In yet another strategic master-stroke, keeping the boys andcoaches guessing, Matt supplied

the oranges at the first break, whichagainseemedtodothetrickas the ball was ensconced in ourforward line for the next quarter, andLincolninparticularseemedtosurprise Manager Judy by banginggoals over from all over the park.AssistantCoachMarkofcoursewasnot surprised by that, but wassurprised by Manager Judy’ssurprise!

A great job was done by Xavier,Will, Harrison, Aarish, Lincoln andKaelen in kicking goals for theteam.Ofcoursethiswouldn’thavehappened if not for the greatsupport from their fellow team-matesThomas,Nathan,Coby,Reidand Jackson, who defended, marked and kicked their heartsout!
