Note: Make sure all oil is API (American Petroleum Institute) certiied and has a minimum

rating of SL. Neither straight weight oil nor non-detergent oil is allowed to be usedat anytime in either engine.

    2068_0016

Note: Synthetic engine oils may be used if the recommended oil quality requirementsare met and recommended maintenance intervals for oil and ilter changes arefollowed.

Note: Do not add any supplemental materials, other than leak detection dyes, to the engineoil. Engine oil is an engineered product and its performance may be impaired bysupplemental additives.

    TRANSMISSION FLUID

Note: The use of any other transmission luid not produced by Chrysler Group LLC must meet MS-9602. This means this luid will NOT be compatible with transmissionsthat require either Dexron or Mercon luids. Transmission luids that claim tobe universal in nature are NOT to be used in this transmission or any others that require ATF+4 MS-9602

Note: Chrysler does NOT approve the addition of any type or kind of additives to thetransmission. The exception to this is the use of special dyes to aid in detectingleaks.

Note: ATF+4 MUST always be used in vehicles that were originally illed with ATF+4.

Note: Refer to Technical Service Bulletins 21-014-07 for automatic transmission luidusage and TSB 26-003-07 for Chryslers vehicle wide luid lushing policies.

Note: Use of Dexron transmission luid may induce torque convertor shudder. If this takesplace the transmission luid will need to be lushed and the ilter replaced.

Note: When servicing the transmission be sure to use a replacement ilter that is a dual

plane (sandwich) style ilter.Note: If using a luid exchanger to service the transmission be sure to adhere to the

following: Always remove non ATF+4 luids from the luid exchanger beforeexchanging the luid. Under no circumstances are the transmission cooler lines tobe cut in order to service the transmission unless they are to be replaced.

Note: Mopar ATF +4, Automatic Transmission Fluid when new is red in color. The ATF isdyed red so it can be identiied from other luids used in the vehicle such as engineoil or antifreeze. The red color is not permanent and is not an indicator of luidcondition. As the vehicle is driven, the ATF will begin to look darker in color andmay eventually become brown. This is normal. ATF+4 also has a unique odor that

may change with age. Consequently, odor and color cannot be used to indicate theluid condition or the need for a luid change.

Note: Various special additives and supplements exist that claim to improve shift feeland/or quality. These additives and others also claim to improve converter clutchoperation and inhibit overheating, oxidation, varnish, and sludge. These claimshave not been supported to the satisfaction of Chrysler and these additives must not be used. The use of transmission sealers should also be avoided, since theymay adversely affect the integrity of transmission seals.

WARNING: TO PREVENT PERSONAL INJURY FROM MOVING PARTS AND TO ASSURE AN

ACCURATE FLUID LEVEL READING, CHECK FLUID LEVEL WITH THE ENGINEOFF.

CAUTION: This vehicle features an electro-hydraulic power steering (EHPS) pump whichrequires a different power steering luid. Do not mix power steering luid types.Damage to the power steering pump and system may result if any other luid isused. The EHPS system uses luid which meets material speciication MS-11655or equivalent.

CAUTION: If the air is not purged from the power steering system correctly, pump failurecould result.

Note: Although not required at speciic intervals, the luid level may be checkedperiodically. Check the luid level anytime there is a system noise or a luid leak issuspected.

NOTE: Be sure the vacuum tool used in the following procedure is clean and free of anyluids.
