FININC S.p.A.

Since 1970, the FININC Group's major activities have concentrated on the large-scale infrastructural works.

The group has consequently made a significant contribution to the construction of important works in terms

of value, size and quality.

One such project was the Frejus motorway and another the refurbishing works undertaken on the Piombino

steelworks and then the others: the railway junction of Palermo, the light underground of Palermo, km 32

SA-RC highway and the Pedemontana Veneta highway which is currently the most important public work in

Italy (95 km in Project Financing, estimated value about 2.250 million euro).

Structured into numerous companies, the Group works into many sectors: infrastructural, engineering, wine

production and distribution, tourism accomodation and publishing; it acts as one big team of qualified and

experienced engineers at the service of the company and its Customers with more than 950 employees, with

a high percentage of whom hold university degrees.

A variety of companies, one big team, three common objectives:

SIPAL S.p.A.

SIPAL was born in 1978 from the idea of a small group of electronic engineers, which found its natural outlet

in the aerospace sector.

SIPAL offers a full range of Logistics Support services to the leading players in Aerospace and Defence and

right from the start acquired all the security clearance necessary to operate at the highest levels of secrecy.

At the end of the '80 SIPAL was bought by one of the most italian group with private capital, Fininc Group; this

moment signs a great opportunity for growth, leading the company to expand into the automotive sector.

The mid-nineties once again saw the Company engaged in the search for new markets and new activities, and

with a growing desire not only to provide systems support, but systems design services as well, which led to

a significant leap in terms of quality: the Design Division, which contributed to the ascent that in little short

of a decade rendered SIPAL capable of designing plant, structures and systems in both the automotive and

aerospace sectors.

Over the years SIPAL grew in terms of turnover and resources, and began its territorial expansion having 12

offices in Italy and more than 300 highly skilled professionals, it has become a company capable of providing

truly global engineering services.

PEDEMONTANA VENETA HIGHWAY

SIPAL, within the SIS Consortium, is charged for Design, Build and Operation for 40 years of the Pedemontana Veneta

pay-toll highway. The Pedemontana Veneta project is intended to reconfigure and re-organize the entire road system

of the reference territory, raising all-round levels of quality and safety according to mobility and local development

requirements and promoting substantial modifications to mobility profiles throughout North East Italy.

The project involves the territory of 36 Municipalities of which 22 in the Province of Vicenza and 14 in the Province of

Treviso. Main works of the project consists in:

~ 11 bridges and viaducts;

~ 2 bored tunnels, respectively 1.5 and 6.5 km long;

~ 35 cut & cover tunnels;

~ 15.000.000 cubic meters of earthworks;

The process starts from the definition of a structure project organized according to a hierarchal division in

systems and subsystems. This structure will be valid for the whole process of integrated logistics support

(eg, system 21 will always be recognized as the air conditioning system).

~ Creation of the aircraft configuration up to the individual removable parts;

~ Study to define the LSA candidates parts (subject to maintenance);

~ RAMS Study and FMEA and FMECA;

~ Definition of spare parts;

~ Preparation of technical descriptions and maintenance procedures in accordance with S1000D

specification;

~ Check on the field (where possible);

~ Inclusion of technical content developed in the CSDB (Common Source Data Base);

~ Extraction of typical content for AMI version;

~ Creation of IETP used for operators (pilots, airplane chiefs) and maintenance personnel;

~ Installation of IETP in reserved areas (such as military bases) or portals (internal company).

The process just described is actually used in the following changes to the aircraft for reasons of different

use or obsolescence of components.

Creating a set of technical publications for the DGA (Direction generale de l'armement) on a series of tactical

vehicles for the transport logistics troops, arms and equipment. In this case it is replicated a process of

logistical support from the data for planning and carrying out all the measurements on the media in

workshop or in field.

~ Definition daily maintenance levels;

~ Creation of the vehicle’s configuration coming down to the individual removable parts;

~ Study to define the parts LSA candidates (subject to maintenance);

~ Study RAMS second rule MIL 13882B and processing FMEA and FMECA to verify impact on

safety of the vehicle and users;

~ Definition of the maintenance policy and then to spare parts;

~ Preparation of technical descriptions and maintenance procedures;

~ Check on the field at machine shops to try out all the maintenance described;

~ Flipping the technical information on DGA special layout in order to create the documentation

set technique;

~ Study, design and construction of special tools (created specifically for easy maintenance);

~ Receipt and evaluation of data from the field and customer feedback;

~ Create the content needed for training;

~ Provision of training courses for operators.

The process follows the continuous changes made to the vehicle (at least in the first 20 years of life).

technical publications prepared in accordance with the S1000D specification.

This specification assumes the use of texts in SGML and XML reused multiple times for different configurations of

the Aircraft/Vehicle that was documenting.

The MY-TOK platform is a complete solution for managing the life cycle of technical documentation.

It is made up of a series of independent, but perfectly integrated products to support control, management,

editing, printing and viewing processes for documents in both sgml/xml format (for example, data module,

provisioning data) and binary format (for example, Microsoft Word, Framemaker).
