Breathe in, breathe out! Whew!! We all made it through the Holiday season, and we’re safe and sound on the other side! The holidays are always so busy for me that sometimes it is easy to forget to just stop and take a breath.

But here we are - halfway done with January which always seems to get here too fast! And you know what that means - it’s PPP time! The January issue is all about Vintage, in all its’ glory! Inside this issue there’s a fun mandala, some totally tubular cassette tapes, retro granny ponchos, and even a French press cozy! And while the patterns are kind of all over the place, they make for a super FUN issue, with each design fitting perfectly within the Vintage theme. Courtney and I had so much fun putting this issue together! We took a stroll down memory lane together, and we hope you find the perfect project to challenge yourself and help broaden your skills.

#SHAWTNEY CHALLENGE

I love vintage,

retro, and antique

stuff. AnD that includes

crochet designs. I do

enjoy current and trendy

projects, but I find myself

drawn to more traditional

styles. Shawna likes a

pretty even mix of both.

So with our mutual like

of vintage designs in mind,

we gathered some designs

from past issues that give

us all those retro feels.

Doilies are some of my favorite things ever!!

I don’t necessarily love making them, but I do love the look of them. And when I find them at antique shops, I always bring a few home. The Vintage Doily Trio (HHM 58) makes me happy! I turned my set into wall art!

I love the look of the Vintage Scarf (PPP 48). It’s lacy enough to speak to my doily-loving side but sturdy enough to be practical. The texture is gorgeous, too!

One of these days, I have to make the Vintage Chevron Table Runner (HHM 22). I love the way table runners look, and this one is trendy enough not to look too outdated while retaining that vintage vibe.

Mandalas aren’t necessarily doilies by definition, but they appeal to me in the same way. The Bunga Doily

(PPP 61) would look gorgeous stretched around a hoop or sitting on an end table as home decor. This is one of the few doilies I haven’t made yet, and I need to rectify that soon!

I know we just got done cleaning up from Christmas, but I am already

planning my home decor projects for this year! And the Granny Square Tree Skirt (HHM 28) is right up my alley! I love granny squares almost as much as I love Christmas!

I could pick more...but then what would Shawna add?!

This month while revisiting old issues,

I found such a variety of projects that fit within the “Vintage” theme, whether it is because of the style or because of the type of project.

First let’s visit the vintage project that I felt drawn toward because of the type of project it is. I have the Flower Chair Cover

from issue #45, this one just screamed vintage, it reminded me of something I would have found in my Grandparents home when I was little. The great thing about this chair cover though is even though the type of project is vintage, the pattern looks super fun and would look great in any home.

I also LOVE Glenda’s Treasure Box from issue #13. I don’t know why but when I think vintage these type of trinket boxes come to mind so I had to include it!

Next, I have the vintage patterns that spoke to me because of the style used. I have the Beatrice Cowl from issue #21 and the Vintage Summer Shawl from PPP 38, both patterns just ticked all my buttons for a vintage project. They use classic, simple stitches and have such a fun vintage flare. The last pattern on my vintage list is the Plus Size Autumn Garden Tank from issue #34, I just love the way the granny squares flatter and complete this top! As soon as I saw this tank, I knew I had to make it!
