Assignment/Activity Title— Info Flow Show Open Year— Freshman Skill— Filming and Final Cut Pro Portfolio Category— Media and Communications The Info Flow Show Open gave me a unique opportunity to write a script, shoot and edit a short video that would be viewed by everyone in the school. Unfortunately, Info Flow stopped working before ours could be shown, or I missed it due to technical difficulties in my classroom, however, it was still one of my favorite assignments in CAP. This assignment called for pure creativity, and I was eager to create a great final product. My process was very simple. I wanted to make something that would wake everyone up and get people out of the morning fog that we are all too familiar with. My group, John, Nate and I, decided to create a show open around a character who would walk down the stairs, trip, send papers flying, then the camera would show him on his back with the words Info Flow created out of paper. We decided to put electronic music over it and that it would start off slow and would end very hyped. I personally think that it was one of the best. It was simple, yet it required a substantial amount of time and thought. First we put together a two-column script and storyboard depicting each scene with camera angles and proper descriptions. Once the script was approved and given a grade of 10 /10, we began filming. We were given three film days where we recorded over twenty shots of John walking down the stairs. Nate and John were happy with only a few shots, however, I insisted that it is always good to have a variety of angles to choose from and it proved to be worth it. Our final product has a great flow and a spectacular finish. Having the most editing experience, I took over the editing. It was mostly simple cuts and making sure everything lined up, but it was good practice. Also, the end scene turned out great. I cut and put together different shots of John falling in slow motion. Instead of using relational editing for the final scene where John trips and

It was mostly simple cuts and making sure everything lined up, but it was good practice. Also, the end scene turned out great. I cut and put together different shots of John falling in slow motion. Instead of using relational editing for the final scene where John trips and falls down the stairs, we actually had John trip and fall down the stairs. It was awesome. I thought he would be done after one shot but he was very dedicated so we were able to put together a little montage of him falling from different angles. My favorite scene is when the papers where all in midair. The final shot was especially cool and a product of our creativity. The shot starts off with the camera zoomed in on his shirt as he lays face down with the words Info Flow in an arch around him. Then, the camera slowly zooms out, John gets up, and leaves as the music fades out. This project, gave me an opportunity to practice scripting, filming, and editing skills, and it also reminded me why I love CAP: The unique projects that give me a chance to channel creativity and perfect skills while creating a spectacular final product.
