Section One- Designs These gowns were designed by myself, Brittany Kennada, for various stage presence appearances such as Miss Arizona USA 2010, Miss Arizona USA 2011 and Miss USA 2011. Please note fabric selection, embellishment choices and designs were created myself, but no construction or sewing was performed by me.

Black LiquidThis gown was one of the first designs I had a vision for that became reality. The liquid beading glazes the body in a way that makes the viewer notice the person, not the gown at first. That was the goal as I competed at Miss Arizona USA 2010. I have ever since loved this gown that is elegant, sophisticated and truly does have an “Audrey Hepburn” feel about it!

Liquid beading with AB stone work on the neck/bust line.

Deep V back with a strapless appearance and a puddle train to the floor.

Some of the details I love about this gown are the neck lines in the back and in the front. I also lined the puddle train with ostrich feathers for a subtle texture that was far different from the beading on the rest of the gown.

Sterling SilverThis gown I absolutely love for the hidden gems you can’t see up close (next slide). I came up with an idea of designing something that was just an endless flow of liquid mercury. I wanted the color, stones and silk on the bottom to match the crown that I was competing for at the time.

The middle overlaying split on the bottom of this gown allowed the air to flow underneath it when I walked, so it was in constant motion.

The side and back structure of the gown were held up with the invisible elastic band in the back, allowing the opportunity of a sweetheart and a deep V in the back.

The bodice is nude mesh piled with pieces of unique broaches and AB stones placed on top of each other for a 3-Dimensional perspective. The stone on the skirt are sprinkled down so that from stage, you can’t see a defined line of the bodice to skirt.

Gold ColumnThis gown originally was meant to be reminiscent of the golden Oscar trophy. I had intended the actual color to be a deeper, richer gold- but with short production time we ended up going with a gold champagne that turned out to be just a pretty.

This gown does not show well on a form, but it’s simplicity of cut and the heavy beading blend for a gorgeous result.

The fabric underneath the beading is champagne. In order to achieve a gold reflection on stage, we added small pieces of gold metal, gold rhinestones and some AB stones for ultimate shine.

You can see the actual color under the brighter lights on the far left. This gown fits similar to the black liquid beaded gown, but has a high slit in the back that makes it easy to walk and gives a little sexy touch when you walk away.

Wedding GownA girl’s wedding gown is something they dream of for a long time. I had always loved a portrait neckline and definitely wanted it to be something that was simple, but had a quality that said “European royalty” to it. I loved my train, which I wanted to be the focal point. The iconic aisle photos were important to me, and the train details were executed with class and kept the gown interesting.

The back of this portrait was also beaded, and the V part of the back line was intended to create a heart-like shape. The train was 8 feet long and also was structured with horse hair for stability and shape during all parts of the wedding.

Pastel Project This project was done for my studio art class at Pepperdine University. The premise was to re-create just a portion of a well-known oil painting, using pastels. We also were required to do a pencil self-portrait in the lower right hand corner.

To re-create the Girl with a Pearl Earring, we had custom wood framed boards made (aprx. 4ft X 1.5ft) and used only pastel sticks with pencils.
