Buildings in Tampere is consist of straight lines and right angle.Against that this extention is made of curved lines. Among many rectangle this sphere get strange and outstanding.

Brick is used in many place in Tampere and there is a few building having conspicuous material around here.Alminum and plastic are so constractive material.

Usually we use vertical pillarsand horizontal beams. Then we can unconsciously noutice them from the facade of buildings.the museum is adapted more complicated

Museums should be something special. On the other hand we have to esteem historicalthinngs.

    There is the dilemma.

The idea of this museum is Drapeing the extant museumwith conspicuous thing, which makes both the existingmuseum and new extention part outstanding.

Most of buildings in TAMPERE are box-shaped and made of the material like brick or stone-like things.

To get conspicuous I provide contrasts on the extention.

First the new extention have spherical shape, which isa different shape from those buildings.

Second It has the material like aluminum, steel, and plastic.

Third the constructional flame is strange form which isntcross at right angle.

For these contrasts the extention would be strange and outstanding. And for that, the existing building would be conspicuousas well.

There is one big void through which we can see existing museumin the extention museum. It expresses the effect of contrast clearly.Making contrast provide more value to old, histrical things.

We enter this museum using ramp or stairs on front of it.After turning to the big balcon,we will see the existing buildgin through the void.It feels conspicuous, because the differenceof shape and material. It makes us think whats this building covered with this museum. It makes us get to know presence of historicalthing and history.
