APPLE COMPUTER COLLATERAL PIECES

This small booklet on various ways to use a computer in college, had to be relevant and somewhat irreverent. It was illustrated by Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons, and launched a very successful autumn semester of sales.

This curriculum guide for English professors demonstrated ways to use a computer in daily class lessons, included testimonials from professors across the country and listed software available for the Mac for many English courses.

CERIDIAN SPEC CREATIVE – WON THE ACCOUNTThe pitch for this Human Resources and Payroll Management company included four business to business print ads, direct mail and a dimensional mailer.The vote among seven decision makers was unanimous and immediate.

PRIVATE LABEL SALT PACKAGE DESIGNCompass Minerals needed a quick turnaround for a private label line of premium salt products in a variety of sizes. They had to stand out on the retail shelf and create an upscale look and feel.

MOTOROLA CAMPAIGNOne of a series of ads for computer chips that were in products from cameras to cars to computers. Concepted, art directed and wrote the headline. Clio finalist.

RED SHOW SHINDIG DIRECT MAIL BOOKLETEvery year Ronald McDonald House Charities stages a fundraising night of fun, silent auctions and dancing, encouraging everyone to wear their red shoes as Ronald wears his red pair. This direct mail invitation high-lights red shoes worn throughout history including Garrison Keillor’s hightops and Dorothy’s ruby slippers.

BED BUG AND DUST MITE INSECTICIDEAt a time when the news media was full of stories about the infestation of bed bugs in hotels around the country, Sprayway needed to spread the word that their product Good Night would kill them. The colored spec in the middle of the two full page ads is a photo of a bed bug, actual size. Wrote all three headlines.

BUSINESS TO BUSINESS AD FOR USSISoftware has no form, so the visual for this USSI product for ATM networks is a James Yang illustration that brings life to the ad, and pays off the headline beautifully.

WAYSIDE WAIFS PRO BONOThe billboard visual plea, above, was simple, clean and really needed no copy. It launched a campaign to help the pet haven raise funds to redo and expand the shelter. The two-color ad, right, briefly explained the need for funds and adoptions.The “Save Our Shelter” billboard was selected for the Communication Arts (CA) Advertising Annual.

A subsidiary of Compass Minerals, this company makes a line of products for salt water swimming pools.

A well known Kansas City audio studio moved into new suites and needed new business cards, along with a new logo.

An art director and designer neededsome income-supplementing design freelance work early in her advertising career. Thus the name.
