Welcome New POST Staff Member

Please join us in welcoming the newest POST staff member, Brian Mehrer. Brian

joined POST as a Training Specialist working with the training team. Brian holds a

B.A. from Jamestown College in North Dakota and a Masters in Education from

Montana State University. Brian was previously employed with the Douglas County

School District in various educational positions and is currently a Reserve Sergeant

with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Commission Meeting Scheduled for November 3 in Las Vegas

The next Commission Meeting is scheduled to be held at the Palace Station Hotel and

Casino, Salon F, 2411 W. Sahara Ave., Las Vegas, NV. Starting at 5:00 P.M., a work-

shop will be held followed by a regularly scheduled meeting. Among the topics to be

discussed is the establishment of a regulation regarding the minimum standards for

training in effective responses to incidents involving dogs or where dogs are present.

Post is currently recruiting for a Training Specialist as a member of the POST training

POST Academy Graduation November 19, 2015

The graduation ceremony for POST Academy Class 51/52 will highlight Lieutenant

Governor Mark Hutchison as the keynote speaker. The ceremony will be held on

Thursday, November 19, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. on the east lawn of POST Building 6 at

the Stewart facility in Carson City. Mike Sherlock, Executive Director of POST, will

deliver his congratulatory remarks and the POST Commission Chairman, Sheriff Ron

Pierini of Douglas County will administer the peace officers’ oath. This graduating

class includes 23 category I and 3 category II graduates from various agencies around

the state representing several County Sheriff’s Offices, Juvenile Probation Services,

Tribal and City Police Departments, and Nevada state agencies such as DMV and

Gaming Control Board.
