Indian Society of Soil Science – Jodhpur Chapter had organized the book releasing program in CAZRI Jodhpur. The book

entitled “ ” by was released byThar Desert in Retrospect and Prospect Dr. R.P. Dhir, Dr. D.C. Joshi and Dr. S. Kathju

Hon'ble Minister of State for Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Shri Shekhawat

said that “Thar desert is unique from other deserts of world. It is in very better condition irrespective of its high temperature,

uncertain rainfall, low fertile soil and very limited resources.” He also congratulated the authors of the book. The Director of

CAZRI Jodhpur Dr. O.P. Yadav had suggested to find the solutions of challenges present in Thar desert. Dr. A.S. Faroda,

former chairman of Agriculture Scientists Recruitment Board - New Delhi.

Efforts done by the authors to bring their researches and surveys on the Thar desert in both the aspects – its past and future is

really highly appreciable because putting their studies in the form of a book on issues like - rural people's life style, education

level, earning sources, climate, water resources, government policies for agriculture, livestock and overall development of

Thar desert is one of the very diversified, time consuming, hardworking and stressable work in itself. Doing such a great work

at this level is a point of honor and appreciation. We hope readers will also find it very useful for them because of its easy to

understand language and diagrams and tables inserted in the chapters. It is really pleasurable for ,Scientific Publishers
