    $109.9 million of project funding broken down as follows:

    $53.4 million from the DC Government for the station,

    $6.5 million from the DC Government for the MBT,

    $25 million from Developers,

    $25 million from the Federal Government,

    Private Funding

    Developers and landowners in the vicinity of the station paid $25million toward station costs.

    A Special Assessment District was established in 2001 with thefollowing parameters determining who contributed.

    Within mile of the station, Own in excess of 10,000 contiguous sq. ft., Retroactive to December of 2000, Not applicable to residential property, and Not applicable to entities that are exempt from property taxes.

    Assessment is added to the yearly tax bill of the affected properties.

    Developers immediately adjacent to the station also donated property(temporary and permanent) to WMATA for the station.

    WMATA hired a community organization to assist with thecommunity outreach effort. In a three month period leading up tothe Public Hearing, WMATA: Hosted 4 meetings with the community, Attended 2 community organizations meetings, Held 4 agency coordination meetings, Monthly meetings with developers, Distributed 1 survey form, and Published a newsletter.

    The Public Hearing was one of the most successful in WMATAshistory.

    Engagement with the community continued throughout the projectwhich helped to maintain support up to station opening.

    Trackwork Requirements

    During a 6 month period in 2004 the project performed the following work:

    54 hour complete shut down 4-17 & 18 to realign the OB tracks for anew DXO.

    54 hour complete shut down 5-1 & 2 to realign the IB tracks for a newDXO.

    78 hour shut down during Labor Day Weekend for IB track connection.

    80 hour shut down during Columbus Day Weekend to install new DXO.

    56 hour shut down (11-5 & 6) for OB track connection.
