Marshall Island: Supply of water resources through rainwater utilization and water hydration

- Accredited Entity: UNDP (Free Grant)

- Fund: 30 million USD (scheduled to apply for grant to GCF)- Area: Mitigation ( ) / Adaptation (○) / cross-cutting ( )- Summary: 1. Introduction of water resources management policies and regulations

2. Install water supply facility (rainwater, fresh water) that minimizes maintenance cost

Main Issues on Marshall Island

○ Consists of 34 islands, 24 of which about 60,000 people live in

○ Waterworks company exists at each of the capital cities (Majuro and Kwajalein Atoll),

but due to insufficient rate system, the annually collected fee is only about 1.2 million USD.

○ Need for Constant water supply system installation with technology that minimizes

maintenance and management costs
