The Eastenders theme tune starts off with drums and then the melody joins in. This is a well known theme tune all Britain. The music is quite depressing. By this, you know that the soap can go either way. As it is, upbeat but depressing at the same time. By the camera focussing on the River Thames and the Millennium Dome it shows to the audience that the soap is going to be based in London. The final title shows us what the soap is called. It is clear that it is called “Eastenders” . It also shows us what channel the programme is on, which is the BBC. It is a simple layout and the theme is the same throughout. It is based upon the Thames. As the soap is called Eastenders the audience automatically know that the soap is in the east end of London. The Coronation Street theme tune starts off quite dreary. Its quite a screechy sound throughout the title. The camera shows several images of Manchester itself and then gradually starts to show images of where the soap is based itself. The audience may not initially realise that the soap is based in Manchester straight away. The final title shows us what the soap is called. It is clear that it is called “Coronation Street” as it is clearly stated. The camera also shows the light bouncing off the roofs of the street. This shows the terrace houses and what type of street it is.

I then decided to look at adverts and trailers for sitcoms. I looked at The Inbetweeners because I feel that their trailers work well and get the audience wanting to know more.

The trailer shows several narratives from several different shows to show to the audience what the show is all about. They are snippets about the shows. Its trying to get the audience involved.

I have took several shots from the show itself to show the different narratives that are involved to make an Inbetweeners trailer.

The final title shows us what the show is called. It is clear that it is called “The Inbetweeners” . The start titles also show the audience what time the show is on and what channel it will be aired on. This is helpful to the audience and makes them want to watch it even more.

On this particular end of the trailer it shows the 4 main characters which the show is about. They try to make the audience remember them.

The title is simple. It is in a white font which doesn’t take up the whole page and is surrounded by a purple background. The symbol for the channel is clear as the audience will know what is is.
