Objectives – for AWDO 2020• Be a communication tool on Water Security for the Asia and Pacific region
‐ by providing an overview of Water Security of Development Member Countries (DMCs) in five key dimensions
• Provide a basis for comparison with other DMCs‐ or, within a DMC, for comparison with other states, provinces or river
basins
• Follow the progress over time DMCs make in achieving water security (2013-2016-2020)
• Guide trailing ones to become water secure by guiding policy and institutional reforms‐ supporting Operational Departments of ADB in their communication
with the DMCs

• Refining / improving the Methodology• e.g. use of new databases, KD1 now only rural, KD5 to include the hazard
• To include dedicated chapters on Finance and Governance• to be contributed by the OECD
• To include Country Case studies (incl. Thailand, India, Timor-Leste)
• More attention for link with SDGs, inclusiveness, transboundary issues
• Align AWDO with the new ADB Water Strategy
