Powtoon

Create animated videos

Introduction

Powtoon is a free tool that lets you create animated movies. You can incorporate text, images, music and audio in your videos. There are a variety of stock images and music files that come with the software and you have many options to publish your finished video. This document will explain some of the features and steps to create a video using Powtoon.

1. Go to https://www.powtoon.com/

2. Click Sign up for free. (Fig 1,1)

3. Fill out the form. (Fig 2)

4. Confirm your email by login into your email address. Click Confirm and continue. (Fig 3,1)

1. Click Create a new project. (Fig 4,1)

2. Select the template that you like. (Fig 5,1)

Use Layouts

3. Click Edit. (Fig 6,1) 4. Enter the title and the text in the slides. 5. If you want to change the text style, click on the text (Fig 7,1) and apply your desired formatting. (Fig 7,2)

6. To add a slide transition, click Slide up transition

(Fig 8,1) and select the slide transition that you want (Fig 9). 7. If you want to remove the transition, click Slide up transition (Fig 8,1), then

click Remove transition. (Fig 10,1)

The timeline is used to add animation timing to objects in your presentation. You place objects on the timeline to indicate when they should appear and set the duration for the appearance of each object. 1. Display your timeline by clicking the switch. (Fig 11,1) 2. Click Layouts. (Fig 12,1) 3. Click Choose a Layout. (Fig 13,1) 4. Once you choose your layout, you can edit the timeline. (Fig 14) 5. If you want to playback the slide, click on play. (Fig 15,1) 6. If you want to add or remove seconds, click on Add seconds

to timeline (Fig 14,5) or Remove seconds to timeline. (Fig 14,6)

If you want to add music, click Sound manager. (Fig 14,1) If you want to mute or unmute the sound, click Sound on/off. (Fig 14,2) If you want to show the text in a specific amount of time, click on Text (Fig 14,3) and

move it to the right or to the left, depending on the specific time that you want to show the text. Repeat the process for the appearance of objects and characters. (Fig 14,4)

1. In the right hand navigation pane, click Library. (Fig 17)

2. Select Characters. (Fig 18)

3. Select the expression of the character. (Fig 19,1)

4. If you want to replace this character by another one suggested in the

library, click swap and select the other character. (Fig 19,2)

5. If you want to animate the character, click Animation Settings. (Fig 19,3)

6. If you want to flip the character, click Flip. (Fig 19,4)

1. In the right hand navigation pane, click Sound. (Fig 21)

2. To record your own audio, click Record. (Fig 22,1) If you have your audio rec-

orded outside of Powtoon, click Upload and use it in your slide. (Fig 22,2)

3. To add music or recording, click Sound track. (Fig 22,3)

To add an uploaded recording, click Import File below Voice Over. (Fig 23,1)

Add images

1. In the right hand navigation pane, click Images. (Fig 24)

2. To upload a picture, click Upload image (Fig 25,1), and select a picture.

3. If you want to use a picture saved in Powtoon, click My images, and

select the picture. (Fig 25,2)

4. If you want to search an image to use it, click Image search

(Fig 25,3), and type the name of the desired picture. (Fig 26,1)

5. If you want to add a picture by using one of those style image holder, select the desired template (Fig 25,4), and

select a picture. (Fig 26)

1. Click Save. (Fig 27)

3. Select Upload to Youtube (Fig 29,1) or share with Embed (Fig 30,1).

4. If you choose Embed, you must paste the Embed code into your web page.

5. If you choose upload to Youtube, you will need to share your video link for others to view it.
