Production Commentary

Slide 1: Design Programmes• For my picture and formatting work I used Photoshop and also templates from

Moodle so that I could line up my words and columns so it would look like an authentic magazine and not just a word document, I also used Photoshop to also alter my images I changed the colour saturation to manipulate the pictures so that they looked like something more out of a magazine.

Slide 2: FORMATSI took a pretty standard format when it comes to rugby league magazines they all have a main story then two or three small side articles to complete the front cover normally the main picture on the front of the magazine is related to a double page interview on the inside and this is what will persuade the customer to engage in reading also the colour and writing on front of the magazine is related to the team or player on the front of the cover. I also tried to keep to the writing style the same which is small tight articles talking about your opinion and then a sit down interview with either a player or a coach.

Slide 3: Conventions & Visual Language

Here is the primary optical area this is where you will see the title of the publication and also possibly a monthly notification of which edition it is and also a magazine slogan

This is the weak fallow area here is the end of the magazine and normally just wraps it up with things such as the barcode and price

The strong fallow area is where your main image will start and also will be where there will be an indication of the main story for the month which is about London this month.

Here is where you normally will see sub stories that will gain readers interest these surround the main story and are dotted around the front cover

My double page follows convention of the rugby league magazines from the way it is formatted to the chatty style of the writing with a mixture of interviewing and opinion based writing in order to keep to the convention used normally I split the page into two and kept one side the more informative and formal interview and then on the other side a more chatty opinion based piece, the colours I used are always the same as the club that is the main feature of the magazine so this is something I kept by having my Main colour in blue as that is the main colour of the London Broncos.

Slide 4: Audience

Because my magazine is a specific sport based magazine there is no real specific gender range just a magazine for people are interested in the sport the age range is for an older contingent as there are less images and its more about the in depth writing and the social class is D to B because normally those are people that go to the games.I feel my article and the cover meet the audience needs as it covers a wide variety of subjects from images and one on one interviews to discussions from experts within the game.
