    Exam Structure

Practicum can have 140-215 questions, including extra credit

99.9% of stations have 5 questions

    3 C-level, 1 B-level, 1 A-level Always a few extra credit stations which

dont count towards the 50 pts

2.5 minutes per station, 30 seconds perquestion

Usually 30 minutes of free roaming timeafter everyone completes the exam.

    Tips

Repetition. Anatomy is memorization, not much interpretation.

Labeling helps. White out pictures and see if you can fill in thelabels on your own.

Dont worry about time. You have more than enough time to finishyour exam. You can always go back. The timer is there to get thefaster students out.

Pay attention the questions. READ THEM CAREFULLY. Use your lab manual as a list of what you need to know. Dont rely

on the pictures. Take your list, find the structures in your textbookor in other resources.

Take advantage of the HOAG lab (ADAM and Netter) as well as thelibrary (a whole shelf of atlases upstairs).

    Tips

Remember to make a key for your abbreviations.Abbreviations will save you time and space on yourexam. They are a must, but you need to be very neatand very careful.

Spelling counts. Dont forget your of thes. Its better to be

overboard on them. Just make sure you dont give anincorrect of the. EG: piston/engine/car when you arereferring to a boat.

Left and rights for all paired structures. Dont waste lab time. Go to open labs. You paid for it.

Do not overlook the first 2 labs

Know the systems, planes, regional terms.

Kohler is very important, not just on the exam. You will need to know how to put a microscopein Kohler for the rest of the semester.

The parts of the microscope are important aswell. Again, not just for the exam. TAs andinstructors expect you to know the parts.

Cell structure: be ready to label

    organelles.

    Mitosis: just study pictures. They

models and slides that we use will berepresentative.

Study these, they are easy points

    Histology

Histology and the ability to use a microscopeare VITAL to your success in anatomy.

Primary tissues are a way for you to train youreyes.

You will encounter histology again in EVERYunit.

Dont rely on google for your images. Onlinepictures might not be stained like ours. Spendtime with the microscopes in class and in open

lab. You can take pictures with your camera.

    Histology: Types ofQuestions

Name this tissue (Simple SquamousEpithelial Tissue, Blood Connective

Tissue) Never forget the primary tissue type in

your answer Where can this tissue be found? (lining

    of blood vessels)

Name this structure. (elastic fiber of theelastic cartilage connective tissue) Name this space. (lacunae of the
