HOW TOPREPARE

FOR A HOME INSPECTION

If a home is empty, leave the

utilities on and Pilot lights lit

.

Make sure electrical sockets,

light fixtures, switchesand fans work.

Confirm smokeand carbon monoxide

detectors operate.

Check thatfaucets and toilets

run properlyand don’t leak

Clean stove and oven so they wontsmoke and set off alarm when tested.

Verify doors and windows open and

close and allhardware works.

Clear obstructionsaround furnace,

water heaters andattic access.

Leave keys for outbuildings and exterior electrical

boxes.

Remove brushand debris from

exterior inspectionpoint.

GatherDocumentation for

renovations or repairsthat have been made.

Provide sketchshowing location of septic tank and well.

Remove orcrate pets.

Plan to be awayfor three hours

minimum.

Consider having home

pre-inspected so issues can be fixed before Official inspection.
