PC Notables • The Blue Hose established new Division I era program re- cords with 29 wins overall and 15 Big South victories. • PC finished the regular season with the Big South lead in hits (512), sac bunts (51) and fewest strikeouts per game (7.05), while coming in third in runs scored (296) and bat- ting average (.270). • The Blue Hose ended the regular season fourth in the league in ERA (4.36), opponent batting average (.261) and strikeouts (393). • In conference action, PC finished second with a 2.91 ERA and fourth with a .245 opponent batting average. It eclipses the previous record of 27 wins set by the Blue Hose each of the last two seasons. • The Blue Hose also reached 15 Big South victories this season, a program record since PC joined the league. The previous D1 record was 12, set last season. • Additionally, the 15 conference wins are tied for the most in the program’s modern era (since 1988) with the 1998 team, who went 15-3 in the SAC. • It was also the first time PC finished with a winning record in the Big South. The .625 winning percentage in conference play was the best by a PC team since 1999 when it went 12-6 in the SAC for a .667 winning percentage. • The 29 victories are the most by a PC team since 2001 when it won 30 games as a part of the South Atlantic Con- ference. • Presbyterian managed 15 true road victories this season, the most in program’s Division I era, while finishing with a winning road record (15-13) for the first time in Division I. The 2013 team held the previous high for road wins, totaling 13. • PC won five Big South series this season, the most ever in the program’s history. The previous best was four, which came last season and in 2012. Season Records Watch • Brian Kehner has allowed just 1.03 walks per nine innings this season, current the best such mark in the program’s modern era. • Cletis Avery has 18 stolen bases this season, most by a player since PC went Division I. He four shy of cracking the top 10 in the program’s modern era. • Glen Casaceli’s .428 on-base percentage is currently the third-best in a single season in PC’s Division I era. • Eric Miles and Ryan Hedrick both rank in the top 10 in the program’s modern era for single-season ERA. Senior Pitchers Among PC Career Leaders• Ethan Workoetter ranks first in PC’s modern era for career strikeouts per nine innings (9.14) and appearances (88), while ranking sixth in career ERA (4.22).• Brian Kehner is third in PC’s modern era with 2.13 walks allowed per nine innings in his career. He is also fourth in games started (44), fifth in strikeouts (212), seventh in appearances (71) and seventh in innings pitched (279.0).• Hayden Deal is second in PC’s modern era in appearances (86) and strkeouts per nine innings (8.97), trailing Wortkoetter in both. He is also fifth in saves (10) and strikeouts (175).

Casaceli Shining in May• Glen Casaceli has led a thriving PC offense since the calendar turned to May, going 17-for-39 (.436) with nine runs and five RBIs in six games in the month.• The senior has a hit in eight on the nine games in which he has played in the month, including each of the last seven. He has five multi-hit games with four of the five three-hit games.• The righty contiues to excel out of the leadoff spot, batting .366 in 25 games out of the top spot in the order with 21 runs, 10 RBIs and a .443 on-base per-centage.• The righty has raised his average nearly 30 points since the end of April and over 130 points since the middle of March.

Close Games the Norm• PC has played 23 one-run games with 10 others decided by three runs or less.• The Blue Hose are 12-11 in one-run games with a 18-15 record in all games decided three runs or less.• Fourteen of PC’s 24 Big South games were decided by three runs or less.

Richardson Red Hot• Junior catcher TJ Richardson was red hot over a 10-game stretch between April 28 and May 16, recording at least two hits in eight of the 10 games to push his average to .331 at the time.• Over the 10, the right-handed hitter is 19-for-44 (.432) with four doubles, six runs and seven RBIs out of the middle of the PC lineup.• Richardson has 14 multi-hit games on the year, second-most on the team, and just one shy of the team lead.• His best game of the stretch came at Davidson on May 2, going 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs to help propel PC to an 8-6 road victory.• He then put together a 3-for-4 performance at Western Carolina, collecting a double and driving in two runs.

Slagill Coming on Late• Sophomore Connor Slagill has also come on of late, putting together a modest seven-game hitting streak before going hitless in game two of Sunday’s double-header at Charleston Southern.• Over the seven games, Slagill went 13-for-28 (.464) with three home runs, 11 RBIs and five runs.• Since the start of April, Slagill has played in 22 games, starting each one, and recorded a .283 average. During the stretch, he is 21-for-74 with three home runs, nine runs and 14 RBIs.• Slagill had two four-RBI games during the streak, coming against USC Upstate and Charleston Southern, the only player on the team with more than one this season.

Moss, Branch Blank Western Carolina• PC right-handed hurlers Robert Moss and Russ Branch combined for a shutout at Western Carolina on Tuesday evening in a 6-0 PC victory.• Moss, in his first career start, went a career-long 5.1 innings and held the Catamounts without a run. The senior allowed just two hits and one walk with one strikeout to earn the victory.• Branch entered in relief in the sixth and worked the remainder of the contest to earn his second save of the year. The righty went 3.2 scoreless innings and

PriaulxNamedAcademicAll-District• Junior first baseman AJ Priaulx was named Academic All-District IV by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on May 5.• The lefty leads the team this season with five home runs and 31 RBIs at the plate, while recording a team-best .472 slugging percentage on the year.• It is the first such honor for Priaulx, who was named to the Big South All-Academic team as a sophomore last season.• It is the second straight season that a PC player has earned the All-District honor, as former Blue Hose Weston Jackson was named Academic All-District a year ago.

Auckland Records Longest Hit Streak This Year• Brett Auckland extended his hitting streak to 12 games before going hitless against USC Upstate on May 3.• The lefty went 16-for-40 (.400) with three doubles, a ho-mer, seven runs and five RBIs over the 12-game stretch.• Auckland had a pair of three-hit games during the streak, both coming on Wednesdays against Furman and Duke.• The streak allowed him to raise his batting to .303 at the time, second-highest mark on the team then.• The lefty continued his reached base streak to 17 games before it ended on May 18 at Liberty.

Casaceli Records 20-Game Reached Base Streak• Senior Glen Casaceli recorded the longest reached base streak of the season, reaching in 20 straight games from March 10 to April 28.• The third baseman collected a hit in 17 of the 20 games with at least one walk in the remaining three games. • Casaceli recorded a nine-game hitting streak from March 19 to April 7. He then recorded a seven-game hitting streak from April 9-21 to collect a hit in 16 of his last 17 games during the streak.

Auckland Big South Player of the Week on May 15• Senior outfielder Brett Auckland was named Big South Player of the Week of the week on Monday for his perfor-mance against South Carolina and Charleston Southern.• Auckland went 9-for-18 (.500) with two home runs, six runs and seven RBIs in four games last week. • The lefty collected a hit and an RBI in all four games, while managing three multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games against the Bucs over the weekend.• The native of Chapin, S.C. kicked off the weekend by go-ing 3-for-5 with a homer, three runs and two RBIs in PC’s 11-10 win at CSU on Friday.• He followed that up with a 3-for-4 effort with a homer, three runs and two RBIs in Sunday’s series finale, a 10-8 come-from-behind victory for the Blue Hose.

Offense Thrives in Three-Game Sweep at CSU• PC got the bats going in North Charleston over the week-end, totaling 31 runs on 44 hits to the tune of a .267 batting average in three games.• It is the first time that PC scored at least 10 runs in three straight games since 2015 when the Blue Hose scored 11 in both games of a doubleheader against Holy Cross before getting 11 again against Wofford in a midweek game.• Additionally, it is the first time that PC scored at least 10 in all three games of a series since 2011 when they did so twice, against NC Central and Army.• It is the first time that PC has managed at least 10 runs in all three games against a Big South opponent since 2009 when the Blue Hose got at least 10 in a series against UNC Asheville to end the season.

Weekend Starters Show Out in Big South Play• In its first five Big South series, PC starters compiled a 2.39 ERA, allowing 27 earned runs in 101.2 innings of work.• Brian Kehner, Tanner Chock and Hayden Deal combined to record 85 strikeouts against 29 walks, while holding oppos-ing hitters to a .239 average during the 15 games.• Kehner has tossed 7.0 innings with no earned runs on two occassions during conference play, doing so against UNC Asheville and Winthrop.• Chock worked a complete game against Radford on April 1, allowing just one run on five hits with a career-high 12 strikeouts. He then worked 8.0 innings against Gard-ner-Webb, allowing just one run on two hits as he retired the final 20 batters that he faced.• Deal then worked his first career complete game against Winthrop on April 9, allowing just one run on one hit with seven strikeouts against one walk.

Avery Records Double-Digit Hitting Streak• Senior Cletis Avery had his 11-game hitting streak snapped on April 14 at Longwood. The senior went 14-for-42 (.333) with a double, a triple, a homer, 10 runs and nine RBIs in the longest streak by a PC player this season, at the time.• The right-handed hitter had raised his average to .269 on the year at the conclusion of the streak, while also going 5-for-6 on stolen base attempts over the 11-game stretch.

Chock Big South Pitcher of the Week on May 1• PC hurler Tanner Chock was named the Big South Pitcher of the Week on May 1 for his performance against Gard-ner-Webb.• The righty held the Runnin’ Bulldogs to just one run on two hits in 8.0 innings of work in PC’s 2-1 win.• Chock recorded nine strikeouts, his second highest total of the year, against just two walks to earn his second vic-tory of the season• He retired the final 20 batters he faced, including six straight 1-2-3 innings from the third to the eighth innings.• In his last two starts against Gardner-Webb, Chock has allowed one run on four hits in 17.0 innings of work with 16 strikeouts against two walks to go 2-0.

Coleman Homers Twice Against High Point• Thatcher Coleman hit his first two home runs in a PC uni-form in PC’s 13-1 win over High Point on Friday.• The righty hit solo shots in the third and eighth innings, both going out to left field at the PC Baseball Complex.• It was the first two-homer game by a PC player since last season when Ryan Hedrick hit two home runs at UNC Asheville on April 2.• As a team, PC hit three home runs in the game, its second three-homer game of the year after also doing so against NC Central on April 4.

PC Wins Three Straight Big South Series• PC recorded three straight conference series victories with series wins over Radford, Winthrop and Longwood.• The Blue Hose capped off the series streak by taking two of three at Longwood from April 13-15. PC dropped the se-ries opener in touch-luck fashion, 2-1, before responding in kind with a 2-1 victory on Saturday.• PC then took the series finale 10-2 to improve to 8-4 in the Big South at the time. It headed to the ninth with a slim 3-2 lead but rallied for seven runs in its final at-bat to pull for the big victory.• It was the first time since 2012 that PC won three straight series against Big South foes.

Deal Big South Pitcher of the Week on April 10• Senior lefty Hayden Deal recorded his first complete game on Sunday against the Eagles, allowing just one run on one hit with seven strikeouts against one walk.• The one hit for Winthrop was the fewest by opponent since 2011, when PC held Wofford to just one hit.

Blue Hose Sweep Big South Leader Winthrop• PC earned three-game road sweep on Winthrop from April 7-9 in its first road conference series of the year.• The Blue Hose took game one, 5-0, thanks to a combined shutout from Brian Kehner and Eric Miles in which the two allowed just five hits.• PC then pulled off an extra-inning victory on Saturday, scoring five times in the top of the 10th to go on for the 10-5 win.• Presbyterian clinched the sweep with a 3-1 win on Sun-day, as Hayden Deal tossed a one-run, one-hit complete game for his third win of the year.• It was the second straight sweep of Winthrop for PC, who has now won its last six games against the Eagles.

Chock Impressive Against Radford• Junior right-handed pitcher Tanner Chock worked his second career complete game on Saturday against Radford, leading PC to a 4-1 victory and a series win.• The righty allowed just one run on six hits with career-high 12 strikeouts against two walks to record his first win of the season.• Chock retired 11 straight batters at one point, before set-ting down the final seven batters of the game in order. He would strike out the side the in eighth and got a 1-2-3 ninth inning to close it out.

Dealing the Ks Against Radford• Senior hurler Hayden Deal was highly effective on the mound against Radford on April 2, after allowing three runs in the first inning.• The lefty faced just three above the minimum from the second inning on, as he retired eight straight at one point. More impressively, during the streak of eight straight, he managed seven straight strikeouts, including striking out the side in the fourth.• In all, he worked 6.0 innings and allowed three runs on five hits with a career-high-tying 10 strikeouts against just a pair of walks to suffer a tough-luck loss against the Highlanders.• It was the second time this season that Deal recorded at least 10 strikeouts with the other coming against Stony Brook on Feb. 26. He is the only PC pitcher with two games of at least 10+ strikeouts this season.

PriaulxReaches10-GameHittingStreak• AJ Priaulx had a 10-game hitting streak that began on Feb. 28 and was snapped at Georgia on March 15. • During the streak, Priaulx batted .425 (17-for-40) with four doubles, two triples, a homer, seven runs and 10 RBIs. • The lefty recorded six multi-hit games and drove in or scored at least one run eight of the 10 games, including three multi-RBI games.• He compiled a team-high .700 slugging percentage during the streak thanks to 28 total bases.

Kehner Shuts Out Army• Senior starter Brian Kehner recorded his first career shut-

out last Friday against Army in his first career 9.0 inning complete game.• The lefty hurler allowed just two hits and one walk in the win, while striking out eight. He allowed only four base run-ner in the game and just one past the third inning.• The two hits were the fewest by a PC opponent since last season when Kehner held Campbell to two hits in a 1-0 loss. PC also held its opponent to two hits on two other occasions last season.

MilesExcelstoStartCollegiateCareer• Freshman Eric Miles has found success early in his college career, as he started the year 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA through his first three starts. He earned a no-decision at Georgia on March 15 to end his three-game winning streak.• The righty gutted his way through 6.0 innings against NC Central in order to pick up his third win of the year in as many starts. He went 6.0 innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts against a lone walk.• In second career start, the rookie allowed just two runs on five hits with a pair of strikeouts against a pair of walks in 7.0 innings of work against NC A&T. He continued to throw strikes, totaling 66 out of the 90 pitches that he threw. Only one Aggie managed to reach second base after the first in-ning, in which they scored both of their two runs.• Miles went 5.0 innings against Wofford in his first career start, allowing one run on three hits with four strikeouts against four walks. He earned the victory in his first colle-giate outing, as PC scored five runs in the first inning.

Auckland, Wise Homer at Georgia• PC got its first multi-homer game of the season on Wednesday with home runs from Nick Wise and Brett Auckland. The Blue Hose totaled six games with at least two home runs a year ago.• Wise hit a second-inning grand slam to give PC the early lead. It was the first grand slam of the year by PC and the first since Peter Johnson hit one at NC A&T last season. Wise is now tied for the team lead this season with two.• Auckland followed with a round tripper later in the game, hitting a two-run shot down the right field line for his first homer of the year.

Auckland Gets Hot at Auburn• Senior Brett Auckland recorded a big series at Auburn, going 5-for-9 (.556) with three RBIs and three walks.• The lefty went 4-for-5 on Friday with three RBIs as PC rallied for the 11-8 win over the Tigers. Two of his four hits came in the ninth inning, as PC batted around in its final at-bat.• He then singled in his first at-bat on Saturday, as he went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks, including an intentional walk.

Wortkoetter Tops Career Appearances List• Senior Ethan Wortkoetter moved in to first place on the PC career list for appearances when he made his 81st career appearance, coming against Furman on February 21. • The side-armed righty has been a reliable relief pitcher for PC throughout his career, making 30 appearances as a freshman, 29 as sophomore and 20 last season as a junior.• With his nine appearances this season, Wortkoetter sits at 86 career appearances, more than any other PC player since the program was reinstated in 1988.• PC senior hurler Hayden Deal has also climbed the list, just two shy of Wortkoetter’s total.

KKKKKKKKKKKKKehner Ks UT Martin• Senior lefty Brian Kehner racked up a season-high 12 strikeouts in PC’s 3-2 win over the Skyhawks on Friday, March 3 at Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C.• The captain worked 7.0 innings and allowed two runs on four hits with just a lone walk against the 12 punchouts.• The 12 strikeouts were not only one shy of his career-high but one shy of the PC D1 single-game record of 13, tied by Kehner in a start at Campbell last season.• Kehner now has three career games with at least 10 strikeouts, most of any pitcher in PC’s Division I era. No oth-er PC pitcher has more than one such game.• As a team, PC totaled 15 strikeouts to tie the program’s Division I era record in a game.

Guimbarda Named Big South Player of the Week• Nick Guimbarda was named Big South Player of the Week by the league on March 13. • The Blue Hose outfielder went 9-for-18 (.500) with four doubles, three runs and seven RBIs.• He recorded a hit in four of the five games with a double in each of the four.

Smith Named Big South Pitcher of the Week• Redshirt junior pitcher Will Smith was named Big South Pitcher of the Week on February 27.• Smith earned his second win of the year on Friday against Stony Brook, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings and allowing just one hit with two strikeouts and no walks. He pounded the strike zone, throwing 19 pitches with 16 strikes in the game, as he finished the contest. PC rallied in the ninth for the 7-6 victory to give Smith a 2-0 record.• Smith then returned to the bump on Sunday afternoon, throwing 2.1 scoreless innings and allowing one hit with two strikeouts against a pair of walks. The native of Sumter, S.C. came up clutch, working in a one-run game and allow-ing just three base runners, two with two outs. • In the ninth, Stony Brook managed a leadoff single but Smith retired the next three batters in order to close the game for the save and give PC to a 2-1 victory.

Dealing It Against Stony Brook• Hayden Deal turned in one of the best starts of his career on Feb. 27 against Stony Brook, as he threw 6.2 innings and allowed one run on three hits with a career-high 10 strike-outs and two walks.• The senior lefty pounded the strikezone all day, throwing 74 of his 107 pitches for strikes and threw a first-pitch strike to 19 of the 25 batters that he faced.• His 10 strikeouts were a career high, as half of the outs he recorded in the game came via the punchout. In his 6.2 innings of work, only once did Stony Brook manage to get two batters aboard in the same inning.• Deal’s 10-strikeout game was one of just seven in PC’s Division I era.

PC Takes Two of Three from Stony Brook• Presbyterian won its first home series of the season by taking two of three from Stony Brook.• The Blue Hose pulled off a walkoff 7-6 victory in Friday’s contest, coming back from a 5-1 deficit. PC totaled 12 hits as a team in the contest with the bottom three hitters in the order going 7-for-10. Will Smith earned the win with 2.2 innings of scoreless relief work.• Saturday’s contest was tied 2-2 in the eighth with both teams getting a run in the ninth, forcing extra innings. Stony Brook prevailed 8-3 in 11 innings.• PC once again managed a one-run win on Sunday with a 2-1 victory in a pitcher’s duel. Hayden Deal was excellent in the win, tossing 6.2 innings and allowing one run on three hits with a career-high 10 strikeouts against two walks. Will Smith earned the save with another 2.1 innings of scoreless work.

Weyenberg, Smith Key PC to First Win• PC’s first win of the season came in dramatic fashion on Sunday, as senior captain Tyler Weyenberg hit a go-ahead solo home run in to the right field stands to put PC in front for good, 4-3. The homer was Weyenberg’s only hit of the game and just the fourth homer of his career.• Will Smith also came through in the clutch, shutting down Alabama in the final 2.2 innings of the game and allowing just one hit with one strikeout against a pair of walks. It was the first career appearance for Smith at PC, who earned the victory.

Guimbarda with Strong Series at Bama• Nick Guimbarda led PC with a nice weekend at the plate, going 4-for-8 with a double and two RBIs. The sophomore had a hit in each game of the series and recorded an RBI in each of the final two games.• The second-year player showed good situational hitting, laying down a sac bunt on Friday that set up a pair of PC runs. He drove in the lone PC run on Saturday, before giving the team a 3-2 lead on Sunday with an RBI single.

Chock, Kehner Preseason All-Big South by Perfect Game• Junior right-hander Tanner Chock and senior lefty Brian Kehner were picked to the Preseason All-Big South team by Perfect Game. The two hurlers will anchor the PC rotation for the second straight season.• Chock was 3-4 with a 4.60 ERA in 86.0 innings pitched across 15 starts a year ago, totaling 72 strikeouts against 44 walks and holding hitters to a .259 average. He turned it up a notch in conference play, going 3-0 with a 2.61 ERA in eight starts and a .198 opponents’ batting average.• Kehner recorded a team-best 2.94 ERA in 95.0 innings pitched across 15 starts, compiling a 5-7 record with a .224 opponent batting average and 78 strikeouts against 13 walks. The lefty started the year 4-0 with an 0.68 ERA after his first four starts, allowing just two runs on 13 hits with 24 strikeouts against three walks in his first 26.1 innings pitched.• Kehner tied the PC Division I era single-game record for strikeouts with 13 at Campbell on May 6, going 8.0 innings and allowing just one run on two hits.

Chock, Avery Top Prospects in Big South• Tanner Chock was also named the No. 2 prospect in the Big South this season by both Perfect Game and D1Base-ball.com. Chock was also the top pitching prospect in the league for 2017, according to Perfect Game.• Chock’s best performance last year came against Gard-ner-Webb on March 25, throwing a two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts against no walks in 3-0 PC victory. He went on to have a strong summer in the Cape Cod League, compiling a 1.77 ERA in 20.1 innings pitched with his team winning each of the four games that he started.• Additionally, Cletis Avery was named the league’s ninth-best prospect for this season. Avery batted .269 with 14 doubles, two triples and five home runs last year in his first season with the program. The shortstop started 56 of the 57 games and finished second on the team in stolen bases with 15 on the year. Avery scored 40 runs and drove in 30 more for the Blue Hose on the year.

From Closer to Starter• Senior left-hander Hayden Deal served as PC’s closer for the 2016 season, totaling seven saves and making 31 ap-pearances out of the pen to total 30.2 innings pitched. His last start came on April 4, 2015 against Campbell, as he worked 4.2 innings and allowed three runs on five hits with three walks against one strikeout.• In his first start of the season, at Alabama on Sunday, Deal worked 4.1 innings and allowed two runs on eight hits with no walks and one strikeout.

Crocco Elevated to Assistant Head Coach• Fifth-year assistant coach Mark Crocco was elevated to Assistant Head Coach over the offseason.• Crocco was named the Big South’s top recruiter during the offseason, in a poll conducted by D1Baseball.com in a survey of 124 Division I coaches.• The program has put together back-to-back 27-win sea-sons, the high-water mark for wins in PC’s Division I era, with Crocco serving as recruiting coordinator for both. His efforts helped PC make its first appearance in the Big South Championship last season.

30th Season of PC’s Modern Era• The 2017 season marks the 30th season of the PC Base-ball program since it was reinstated in 1988. The program’s last season had been 1967 before it was revived in with the 1988 season. The Blue Hose have won 668 games over the previous 29 seasons.• During the 30-year span, PC has seen just three coaches lead the program. Its first head coach when the program returned was Tim Corbin, who led the Blue Hose for six seasons from 1988-1993. Corbin recently won a National Championship as head coach at Vanderbilt in 2014.• Doug Kovash took over as head coach in 1994 and would lead the program for 11 seasons. Kovash won two confer-ence championships, coming in 1998 and 2003, and estab-lished school record for wins in a season with 40 in 1998.• One of Kovash’s former players would become PC’s third head coach, as Elton Pollock assumed the duties beginning with the 2005 season. Pollock is now in his 13th season at the helm of the program and helped lead PC through the transition to Division I.
