2. LET’S START WITH ONE: The Dodgers today close out their
three-game set with the San Francisco Giants looking to avoid
getting swept in San Francisco for the second consecutive time.
Following the game, the club heads back to Los Angeles for a six-
game homestand against the San Diego Padres (3) and Atlanta
Braves (3) beginning tomorrow night.
Los Angeles has been shut out in back-to-back contests
and has scored just one run in the last 27.0 innings and
two runs in its last 39.0 frames.
The last time the Dodgers were held scoreless in three
consecutive contests was June 25-27, 2012, a three-game
series in San Francisco.
The Dodgers lost their first series since the Giants swept
them at AT&T Park April 21-23 and are now 5-1-2 in
their last seven series and 8-3-2 on the season.
The club has lost five consecutive contests at AT&T Park,
which is the Dodgers’ longest losing streak in San
Francisco since April 10-June 24, 2003. The last time Los
Angeles dropped six-in-a-row in San Francisco was June
1-Sept. 13, 1972 at Candlestick Park.
TOPPING THE CHARTS: In recent history, the Dodgers and
Giants have often found themselves on top of the National League
West standings:
Most Games Between Top 2 Teams in Division – Since 2012
Braves vs. Nationals 49
Dodgers vs. Giants 38 (includes today’s game)

DUELING ACES (PART 3): This afternoon, club aces Clayton
Kershaw and Madison Bumgarner will square off for the third
time in 2015. Bumgarner has gotten the better of Kershaw thus far,
as the 2014 NL MVP is 0-1 with a 2.77 ERA (4 ER/13.0 IP)
compared to the World Series MVP’s 1-0, 1.88 (3 ER/14.1 IP)
marks. Overall, this is the fifth time the pair has squared off since
Bumgarner’s first start against Los Angeles in 2010. Kershaw is 1-
3 with a no-decision and a 2.08 ERA (8 ER/34.2 IP) in those
games, never going less than 6.0 innings.
Kershaw has been dominant against the Giants throughout
his career, as he owns the second-lowest all-time ERA
(1.51, 34 ER/202.0 IP, behind only Kent Tekulve, 1.50)
and the lowest opponents’ batting average (.187) against
San Francisco (min. 100.0 IP). He owns a 14-6 career
record (.700) against the Giants in 28 games (27 starts),
including four shutouts.
Kershaw has the lowest ERA in AT&T Park history (min.
50.0 IP), going 8-2 with a 0.97 ERA (10 ER/92.2 IP) and
three shutouts in 13 games (12 starts) at the ballpark.
Kershaw became the second-youngest active pitcher to
reach 100 wins (100-51) in his last start:

TOP OF THE CLASS: Giants’ starter Madison Bumgarner is 12-
5 with a 2.46 ERA in 19 games (18 starts) against the Dodgers, but
a few boys in blue have hit him well over the course of their
careers. Third baseman Juan Uribe is 11-for-36 (.306) with a
home run. Fellow infielder Justin Turner is hitting .280 (7-for-25)
with two homers and Scott Van Slyke is 6-for-19 (.316) with four
