    Oil Exploitation

    What is Oil Exploitation ?

Suatu kegiatan pendayagunaanminyak bumi untuk kepentingantertentu

    Contamination

Suatu keadaan negatif yangdiakibatkan oleh suatu kegiatan

    tertentu, seperti pencemaran

    Tar Sands Oil

Known as Tar Sands or Oil Sands, are a type of unconventionalpetroleum deposit.

Oil sands are found in largeamounts in many countriesthroughout the world, but are foundin extremely large quantities inCanada and Venezuela.

The sands contain clay, water, sands, and oil.

    Albertas Case

Damage Land, Water, and Air by its pollution contamined ground water from their waste

pond Increasing the cancer probability of civilian

around the operation field Involve a variety of enviromental impact such

as global warming and greenhouse gasemissions (40 million tons of CO2emissions/year)

Drain Athabasca river and damage the fishpopulation in there

Oil sands upgraders in the Fort McMurrayarea consistently rank among the top 10 most

    polluting facilities in Canada

    Enviromental Solution

From Alberta : Under Albertas strict reclamation standards,

companies must remediate and reclaim Albertas landso it can be productive again.

Reduced 45 percent of carbon dioxide emission by1990

Limiting water use for oil extraction

Recycle up to 90 percents of water that have been

used The Wood Buffalo Environmental Association

monitors the air in the oil sands region, 24 hours aday, 365 days a year for air quality pollutantsincluding carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone,

fine particulate matter, sulphur dioxide and hydrogen

    Environmental Solution

From us : Bioremediation using Bacillus sp

    Phytoremediation to eliminate or reduce

the pollution Reclamating the region that has been

    damaged
