Some words about us …“Foundation of Regional Initiatives” (FRI) – a youth NGO that works

all over Ukraine with the goal of fortifying the youth movement institutions, training and supporting the active members of youth associations and supporting the development of student and youth initiatives in general.

Mission of the Organization• FRI unites active Ukrainian youth which maintains proactive

positions in the current All-Ukrainian issues.• FRI was established with the aim to strengthen the institutions of

youth movements.• FRI provides active Ukrainian youth with information on

educational programs and trainings and therefore contributes to personal and professional development of youth.

• FRI provides support to overall regional youth initiatives.The strategic aim of FRI is to increase such amount of young activists

to begin the unstoppable chain reaction of positive society changes.

FRI is 9 years old :)

2002 – the local NGO “Foundation of Regional Initiatives” (FRI) in Uzhgorod city (Western Ukraine) was established.

2004 – FRI became an All-Ukrainian organization with registered local branches in every administrative district of Ukraine.

Now FRI counts more than 25 active local organizations and about 400 members who are registered as members and actively participate in life of the organization.

Local FRI Organizations

More than 25 active local organizations elect their local Head and Board.

• Follows the structure of the All-Ukrainian FRI depending on amount of its members;

• Elaborates independently projects focused on issues of current importance in the local community;

• Most of Local FRI Orgs consist of: ● Head of Local FRI● Board of Local FRI.

FRI and politicsFRI does not belong and is not affiliated to any political party,

does not support any party leader. But the members of FRI may have different political views.

The way of FRI is the way of policy – FRI controls politicians, and is not going to become a political party.

FRI and moneyFRI is not a job. That’s why we do not get money for our work

in FRI. Members of FRI work on social basis, due to their personal will and believe.

Activities of FRI are supported by business sponsorship, benefactors help, donations of founders, support of other non-governmental organizations, membership feeds and international technical aid.

“Youth Guard: youth is watching you!”

(2007-2012)

All-Ukrainian civil campaign, which aims to monitor and control the election commitments given to young people by different political forces during the elections. “Youth Guard” includes 10 non-governmental all-Ukrainian youth organizations and 2 associations of the student government.

Other famous successful public lobbying campaigns of FRI

• Saving the destruction of the oldest cinema in Ukraine “Bommer”;

• Campaigns against the local restriction of existing rights of students in Ukraine;

• Saving the children school of art;

• Campaigns against the reduction of public order in Universities (2008 - 2011);

• Defense the freedom of information access for the children and youth organizations;

• Monitoring of implementation of youth policy by governmental institutions;

• And other, and other, and other . . .

International public lobbying campaigns of FRI

Committee on International Control over the Situation

with Human Rights in Belarus

(2011)

Friendly organizations + FRIThe aim of the mission is the observation of actions taken by the Belarusian authorities as well as general monitoring of Human Rights situation in Belarus and problems concerning the Human Rights defenders' activity. The Mission includes the representatives of Human Rights organizations of OSCE countries although for the sake of objectivity, no Belarusian organization was included.

The most interesting International FRI-projects

• Joint celebration of the Days of Europe in Novuy Rozdil with the Greek Embassy in Ukraine;

• Workshop on public activity with Theodor-Heuss-Kolleg, the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the MitOst Association assistance;

• Implementation of Ukrainian-Kazakh projects that aimed to design and establish youth magazine “ZaDelo!” (“Let’s get to work”) and to establish a net of youth activities jointly with Youth Informational Service of Kazakhstan in frames of a project “Youth Direction”;

• Conduction of a project “Big Trash of a Big City” by FRI branch in Dnipropetrovsk, Slovak Organization “People in Trouble”;

• and other various projects . . .

• Implementation of the joint German-Polish-Ukrainian project on cooperation called “EuroBus”;

The team have meetings with youth from rural locations in Ukraine, conduct informal discussions on issues of Ukraine’s European choice, and participate in common activities initiated by local youth
