Lottery: Reaching Communities

All projects must address one or more of the following outcomes: People have better chances in life, with better access to training and development to improve their life skills

Stronger communities, with more active citizens, working together to tackle their problems

Improved rural and urban environments, which communities are better able to access and enjoy

Healthier and more active people and communities

Projects up to 5 years long, no upper limit on funding now

Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities:

• SFA funded programme, partnered with BAES, to support people furthest away from learning and employment

• To coach and motivate individuals through personal issues such as low confidence/self-esteem, anger management, motivation, etc.

• To also make available support in job search, CV writing and completing application forms, along work prep initiatives e.g voluntary work experience

• Funding is for 15 contracts, of £15k each

Client Eligibility:

• 19+, unemployed and in receipt of Working Age Benefits, and will primarily be ‘Core’, with some ‘Additional’

• At least 70% will be Core and no more than 30% Additional

• Core is defined as:Unemployed for 12 Months+, and living in a Target Ward: (Aston, Bordesley Green, Ladywood, Lozells & East Handsworth, Nechells, Soho, Sparkbrook, Washwood Heath)

• Additional is defined as:Unemployed for 6-12 Months, and living in a Target Ward-or-Unemployed for 12 Months+, and not living in a Target Ward, but still in the Birmingham area

• The NLDC Programme is delivered as a part of the Birmingham Community Learning Trust activity:http://birminghamclt.wordpress.com

• The CLT is a collaboration of The BEST Network, B’ham Colleges and BAES, all of whom receive “community learning” money

• All NLDC providers must have (or be able to demonstrate working towards) MATRIX accreditation

• All NLDC provider orgs will use the same eligibility, tracking, progression and monitoring tools that BAES currently use

All NLDC activity will begin Monday 25th November 2013, and is to be completed by 31st July 2014
